I practice compassionate mental health treatment from a trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective.
The longest relationship you’ll ever have is the relationship you have with yourself. I help folx explore how things like depression, anxiety, trauma and attachment impact the relationship they have with themselves, others, and the world around them. My name is Rebekah, and I am so glad that you’re here. We will work together to build holistic practices that lead to deeper, more authentic connection with yourself and with those you care about, while nurturing and healing the parts of your story impacted by trauma, disconnection, and loss.

I work from an attachment-based, experiential, systemic, and trauma-informed lens.
I am passionate about working with people who feel disconnected from themselves and their loved ones. Healthy relationships are essential in contributing to our overall well being. This is why I focus on supporting people who feel stuck in their relationships. Life can be difficult, but having supportive relationships can make the hard times more bearable. It is important that you have a space to tell the full truth of your experience without judgment. So many places in our life we are asked to wear masks or say things are “okay” when they aren't. I provide a compassionate space to learn, heal, and grow towards a fulfilling life.

Highly trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), with a systemic, attachment-based, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed lens for couples, individuals and families.
Have you just been feeling every kind of ‘stuck’ these days — be it in your relationships, and/or, within yourself internally lately? Longing to experience that fruitful, safe, energizing, and wholesome space in which emotional security helps cultivate? Do you long to reconnect with yourself + in your relationships again but feel a guard or emotional block to feeling that sense of synergy again? Try as you might to each repair the issue and work to feel seen/heard, it just feels like this never-ending cycle of the same themes: mismatched communication, things getting escalated, shutting down and/or getting more heated & anxious?

I utilize trauma-informed practices and gravitate towards attachment-based, values, and mindfulness practices.
Sometimes our inner world seems chaotic and stressful. Sometimes we feel like we are going through life surrounded by a fog and can’t see a way out. Sometimes we experience something so significant that our life is turned upside down and we have a hard time coping. Regardless of what you are experiencing right now, it does not reflect anything about your worth and you do not have to navigate it alone. My goal as a therapist is to provide opportunities for you to work through the challenges of life while reconnecting with your authentic self and embracing your inner-knowing.

At UpliftME Attachment-Based Therapy we want to help you enjoy your life and all of your relationships.
You may be someone who always feels alone in a crowd, or someone who feels like you try so hard to connect to others but never actually experience a feeling of connectedness. Life has been full of relationships and daily demands. The people you have in your life need a lot from you but they never really give back the way you need. Actually, you’re not sure you’ve ever gotten what you need and it feels awful. And now, now you are a partner and you don’t know how to make your relationship work. Or, you are parent, and your kids are draining everything you have to give. It feels hopeless, frustrating, and lonely.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
