Adolescence to early adulthood can be a really difficult time to navigate. It’s where we begin the path of self-discovery, establish our personal identities, form relationships, and look to the future. While these can all be very exciting things, they are often also quite challenging and accompanied by stress, conflict, strained relationships, and a whole lot of change. Through a person-centered and collaborative approach, I strive to help individuals strengthen their core beliefs, self-worth, and confidence within themselves.

The secret suffering we all experience is rarely laid bare for one another, yet we know it's shared. Feedback that I have received is that I am "blunt, but with a heart." I respectfully and directly refer to and discuss the suffering and its sources. I have extensive experience working with youth and their families, include in my field of interest improving communication within couples, coping skills for individuals struggling with a variety of mental health and interpersonal issues, teach and facilitate effective communication through a Circle model, and focus always on a client's relationship with the self.

I recognize it is hard and sometimes painful to make the changes to live the life you dream of living. I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment which is essential to the therapeutic relationship and to the process of change. I have over 20 years experience working with individuals who have experienced Family Violence, Child Abuse: Physical, Emotional, and Sexual Abuse, as well as Depression, PTSD, Dysfunctional Relationships, Low Self-Esteem, Adjustment, and Anxiety. It is an honor to witness individuals overcome adversity. My approach is eclectic, tailoring the approach to the individual and their needs.

I am a counselor who is passionate about helping teens and adults experience growth and healing through life challenges. Using interpersonal connection, I help clients explore what beliefs and behaviors are no longer effective in their lives and find the courage to transform these. We will collaborate through talking, writing, art and relationship to address childhood and adult experiences that may contribute to depression, anxiety, substance misuse, post-traumatic stress and interpersonal relationship difficulties.

You know parts were bad, the fights, addictions, mental illness, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, maybe even the death of a loved one. You overcompensate or try to be invisible, because that's how you learned to survive. You suffer from a sense of not being worthy or enough, but it doesn't have to be like that. Life can be good. You ARE worthy and you ARE enough.

Early in my career I discovered that often presenting issues have roots from our childhood experiences and relationships. I have dedicated much of my training since to becoming proficient in working with trauma and dissociative symptoms. As a perinatal mental health and infertility therapist I recognize that life's challenges can be a often be a unexpectedly lonely space; many of us walking these harsh paths not knowing when the efforts we make will produce change. I come from a diverse background in education, personal experience, and training. I fully believe in treating the whole person in order to address the presenting problem. My approach comes from such therapy styles to include CBT, DBT, Rogerian, EMDR, ACT, CCPT, Filial therapy, and the work of Gottman. I try to meet each client where they are when we start our work together and believe the client is the expert on themselves.
