As a military spouse, I have gained extensive experience in helping families and couples navigate complex challenges. My area of expertise is marriage and family therapy, and I hold a doctoral degree from Liberty University. The single most important factor predicting a successful outcome in therapy is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. I am licensed in Alabama and Tennessee and have over 19 years of experience with a wide range of mental health settings and concerns. I use a systemic (relational) framework to help people balance individuality and togetherness, to better communicate their needs while listening to the needs of others, and to establish a clear sense of who they are.

How did I get here? At first you missed a couple of days of work, then you stopped showering, and now you don’t hang out with people you used to enjoy. Life hits hard whether it’s intrusive memories, the loss of a loved one, or a struggle with your own sense of self-worth. Sometimes it’s hard to even pinpoint why you feel the way you feel, you just can’t seem to move past it. You and your partner are staring at a long, bumpy road ahead of you. Once, you were excited to go on this journey together. Now, part of you is terrified of what's to come. You want to make things work, but you're tired and weary of having the same fight over and over. You can't seem to agree on anything. Are we ready for marriage or have similar goals? What's the best way to raise our kids? Enter stress from outside the relationship- pressure from opinionated in-laws, ever-increasing demands from work, kids acting out at school. Life can be hard at times. I'm ready to help you navigate through the ups and downs of your everyday life. I like connecting with different types of individuals, and as a minority, I can focus on different cultural issues.

Some of us have gone through experiences that we didn't ask for, but some how we've managed this far. I have worked in the mental health field over a decade. I have provided direct services in the home, in a psychiatric hospital setting, in a live-in treatment setting, and in outpatient care in community mental health. I have a passion for teaching and helping people learn and grow in their knowledge and capabilities regarding their mental health. In addition to social work, I am also a writer, authoring articles about my experience and knowledge regarding disabilities for various online publications including The Mighty, Yahoo, and Bezzy.

I offer psychological testing for persons (18+) who want to be evaluated for high-functioning autism.

It's a brave and powerful step to work towards prioritizing one's mental health. As a therapist, I honor the commitment to begin one's healing process. My role includes providing therapy through the use of different methods such as trauma- focused cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing. Throughout my career, I have grown a passion for serving survivors of abuse and trauma.

I provide therapy services to adolescents, adults, families, and groups at Auburn Psychological Wellness Center, in Auburn, AL. It is important that we work together in exploring goals related to challenges being experienced in one’s life. I have a clinical specialty in working with individuals experiencing trauma specifically race-based trauma. Also, I have other general areas of emphasis.

My specialties include addiction/substance use, marriage/couples, depression, anxiety, and trauma informed care. I also teach graduate level counselor education courses at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and am finishing my doctorate in behavioral health (DBH) at Arizona State University (ASU). I am also an ordained minister and enjoy working with all populations which include the LGBTQ community.
