I counsel an array of emotional and behavioral aspects including ADHD/ADD, depression, anxiety, anger management, men's issues, relationship issues, health challenges and substance abuse. I believe that people can change and grow throughout their lifespan. Counseling can facilitate self understanding as well as understanding of others. My clients range from adults and older adolescents dealing with individual life challenges, to couples dealing with relationship issues, and seniors adjusting to changes and challenges.

Helen Keller once said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it." Although it is scary to acknowledge our pain and reach out for help, doing so is also a sign of strength and courage. I believe people do the best they can with what they have. I specialize in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals learn to better manage thoughts, emotions and behaviors that cause problems in living. Examples of problems that DBT effectively treats include mood dysregulation, impulsivity, trouble with relationships, suicidal thoughts and self-harm. Although DBT was originally developed to treat BPD, it is also effective in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD and addiction.

I work with individuals, couples and families of all ages with a wide range of mental health issues. These include but are not limited to Alcohol and Drug related issues, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Dual Diagnosis and relationship related issues. My training started at The University of Kentucky studying Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2005. I have a passion for what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.

While I have experience working in a dual-diagnosis treatment center for those struggling with substance abuse, I also have experience working with clients living with the effects of trauma, mood disorders like anxiety and depression, self-harm and suicide ideation, OCD tendencies and psychosis. In the counseling office I am supportive, non-judgmental and empathetic while maintaining a direct and solution-oriented approach to help you achieve your goals. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming and welcome all gender identities, sexualities, and presentations into my office.
