I specialize in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals learn to better manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that cause problems in living. Examples of problems that DBT effectively treats include mood dysregulation, impulsivity, trouble with relationships, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. Although DBT was originally developed to treat BPD, it is also effective in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction.
DBT consists of both individual and group therapy. Weekly individual psychotherapy sessions focus on finding ways to cope with dysregulated emotions and behaviors. The Skills Training Group combines lectures, discussion, and practice exercises to teach skills in four areas: emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and mindfulness.
