I utilize various treatment modalities, including cognitive behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy. In my 20-plus years in mental health, I have worked with individuals from ALL walks of life including prominent professionals, fellow clinicians, and a vast variety of others. This broad spectrum has taught me many valuable lessons, but one holds true; everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. In my experience, it is the client who recognizes a problem and is determined to correct it, who does the best in therapy. My primary goal is to meet you human to human in the most objective space possible. I can assure you a safe, confidential space with a compassionate ear.

Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief, parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 10 years of experience in many different social work settings.

I am experienced in techniques to help clients deal with anxiety such as thought stopping, reframing and mindfulness. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients to change thier automatic negative thoughts to positive thoughts. I encourage clients to focus on self care and help them develop a menu of coping skills to utilize in order to get through difficult times.

I've gained knowledge and skills working with clients who experienced anxiety and mood disorders, adjustment disorder, self-harm/suicide ideation, developmental disabilities, intimate and family relational conflict, parenting, and trauma-related diagnoses. Moreover, as a brainspotting practitioner, I utilize this trauma specific treatment by effectively helping to identify points in an individual's visual field to assist in retrieving unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain.

People seek me out because they find their current situation intolerable - they are sick and tired of experiencing shame, intense anger, depression and anxiety. Hi, my name is Kara Hardesty and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been a therapist for 8 years since I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Masters in Social Work degree. My therapy services include Evidenced Based Treatments including: Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivation Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I enjoy helping parents learn how to best help their children to become happy and successful. I do parent coordination as well. I have a farm office, so is a much less formal atmosphere.
