Dr. Westheimer works with individuals of various ages, but has specialized training in the treatment of children and adolescents. Her graduate studies also included a concentration in neuropsychology. Dr. Westheimer's pre-doctoral internship was completed at The Children's Home in Tampa, Florida with an emphasis on adoption preservation, childhood neglect, trauma, and evaluation. She also completed a rotation providing immediate crisis intervention, assessment and referral, and short-term counseling. Her post-doctoral residency was completed at a local forensic private practice where she remained for three years.

I have been a psychotherapist for 35+ years, working with individuals, couples and families. Life is a challenge and often presents us with moments that are difficult to handle by ourselves. I have a strong passion for working with youth - I tend to gravitate toward young clients struggling with history of trauma, frequent anxiety, and difficulties with regulating emotions and/or behaviors. That being said, I’ve recently done some wonderful work with adults as well. I have worked in a school setting for several years helping children, students, teachers, individuals and families work through issues such as, school stressors, bullying, behavior modification, goal achievement, academic success, anxiety, family issues, and more.
