I specialize working with children, teens, and adults who need support with anxiety, depression, stress/time management issues, ADHD, self esteem, and a variety of others.
Ever had a day where your thoughts were just racing like they are on a racetrack? Going in circles with sometimes no end or direction? Maybe it's most days. Yeah, me too. It's common in society to always be moving on to the next thing and not slow down to check in with yourself. How are YOU doing? You're important! I invite you to come sit in this space with me as you walk me through your journey and what you wish to work on. My goal in sessions is to help you unravel those thoughts—whatever they may be—in a peaceful and mindful way that benefits you. Try to imagine this as your space; your comfort; your peace; your life.

I often collaborate with practitioners in the integrative medical community or ADD coaching community to fully support clients on their health journey.
I bring both understanding and caring to the therapeutic relationship. I’ve been a therapist and supervisor for over 25 years and have specialties in working with people who struggle with depression, learning differences and attentional difficulties that result in performance anxiety. I help with ADD self-management. I am also a Lyme Literate counselor and as such work with folks with chronic complex illness. In the work that I do, I have found it key to highlight and appreciate differences in perception so we can explore how they might lead to communication barriers. Celebrating diversity and uniqueness is important to healing.

I provide neuropsychological evaluations of cognitive functioning and behavior to aid diagnosis of disorders such as ADHD, autism, dementia, and learning disorders.
Clients (or their families) typically present with concerns about cognitive functioning or behavior and the impact of such on their daily lives such as at work, at school, at home, or socially. They often have questions about diagnoses and what services or accommodations would be helpful for them. They have concerns about the future and how to best manage their difficulties. Ideal patients are motivated to work together to find answers that make sense and strategies that they can actually use in daily life.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
