Are you experiencing attention or memory issues, brain fog, or other cognitive-based difficulties? Are these impacting your relationships, job/career success, or self-esteem? I conduct neuropsychological evaluations through comprehensive testing, after which I provide tailored recommendations based on your own relative strengths and areas of needed improvement. I also regularly see people who are recovering from brain injury (TBI/concussions, head trauma, new-onset neurological diagnoses), who might be struggling with cognitive, emotional, and/or psychological recovery.

Struggling with life transitions, creative ruts, and relationships are difficult in any situation but especially so if you do not follow the heteronormative path. It can be difficult to open up to someone when you are not certain that they understand Queer and Alternative relationship structures. I use an individualized approach with each client to build a therapeutic relationship based on specific goals. I focus my work around issues regarding LGBTQ+, sexuality, non-binary and transgender, complex relationships, power dynamics, sexual health, BDSM/Kink, and other dynamics.

My approach to therapy is broad-based and holistic, incorporating the training and experience I have gained over many years. I use evidence-based approaches that are adapted to the needs of the individual, remaining open to the need for creativity and inspiration. Every person has a story to tell, and a key part of my work is to listen and understand. In working with children, the story is often told through the language they know best: play. I am licensed to provide therapy in both Massachusetts and Puerto Rico. I also offer life coaching, which is not limited by geographic location.

Often times it is the devastation of a break up that leads us to searching for a new therapist. Whether its a long-term relationship or a short-term situationship, saying goodbye to a person we are attached to can be traumatic. We are left craving support, connection, and someone to guide us down the path of “what just happened?” As social creatures, we need companionship and we want answers. Relationship endings are also new beginnings.

I became a therapist because I saw early on how men are conditioned not to practice emotional vulnerability and I wanted to model something different in my own life. In the decade since I started down this path, I've met many people grappling with social expectations as I have. My experience working with clients of all backgrounds has reaffirmed for me that, while we all lead very different lives, today's world nudges each of us towards feelings of isolation, anxiety, insecurity, and overwhelm. If you're feeling stuck, burnt out, or just want a nonjudgmental space to explore your emotional landscape, let's chat.

Seeking therapy can be one of the most difficult decisions we make. It requires us to take steps of courage through vulnerability, uncertainty, and trauma in the hope that we may grow through it and into our best selves. Keeping this in mind, you'll find I blend of variety of clinical practices based on what you need because my most crucial practice is meeting you where you are. Therapists call this the therapeutic alliance and the research tells us it's the most significant factor in therapeutic growth.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
