I love helping people of all ages who struggle with social skills, who have suffered from trauma/loss/addiction, or who are affected by people in their lives who struggle with addiction.
Finding a therapist is hard! It doesn't help that there are so many to choose from. I think the most important part is actually liking the person you are talking to. Take a look at my page (and website), and if you think we may be a good fit, I encourage you to call me for a free 15 minute consultation. If we end up working together, I will do my best to find which methods align with you so that I can help you get to the place you want to be.

Since 2009, I have specialized in high-acuity trauma, various spectrum of depression & anxiety, system-impacted families, life transitions, grief & loss, and more! As a woman of color in a leadership, I strive to inspire & empower my fellow women to step out of their comfort zones, recognize their limits & potentials to be effective leaders in all domains!.
Founder of TriHealing Counseling Group. Like many "first-generationers", I experienced struggles with cultural and generational differences, the over-critical parent(s), the "never good enough" mentality, and a sense of emotional distance within myself and at times, within my relationship with my family. Through my own journey, I learned to challenge cultural norms, embracing my biculturalism and making decisions on how I wanted to experience the world as an independent Vietnamese-American woman. I often travel between San Jose and Chicago so I provide a hybrid of in-person and virtual therapy sessions.

I believe that the meaning of life is to tell one’s story. Everyone has a story to tell and we unconsciously share our stories everyday through words, actions, and interactions, despite whether or not someone is listening or willing to put the pieces together. The journey that we each take through life shapes us with each choice, decision, and coping strategy. I chose to become a counselor because I want to listen to those stories and help you to piece your puzzle together. I strive to create a safe space to explore, experiment, understand, and grow into yourself as you would like to become.

First, I want to say welcome and recognize your courage in seeking therapy. It is important to me to address each person in their entirety - including one’s physical, emotional, mental, cultural and spiritual self. My style of therapy is focused on what is showing up in the present while also acknowledging and honoring how past patterns impact you today. In my work I bring an awareness of and sensitivity to power, prejudice and oppression and the many impacts that they have on an individual’s experience of themselves and the world around them.

Harmony. When you think of harmony, one might picture different things coming together that work so well simultaneously and you feel a sense of peace. When things aren’t working well together, there is a clash or dissonance, causing more stress and more problems. I came across a video on Instagram from Nedra Glover Tawwab (nedratawwab) where she talked about the difference between balance and harmony. You see, my ultimate goal in life was to achieve balance when in fact what I was envisioning was harmony. “Harmony is getting things to flow in your life in a cohesive way. Balance is getting everything to be equal."

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
