Depending on your needs, I will help you release anxiety and better manage stress so you can stop smoking, drinking, lose weight, improve communication skills, lower blood pressure, improve study habits, manage pain, fly again, sleep again, be creative, peaceful, motivated, trust, and most of all be happy.
Right now you may be in need and suffering? The body has a deep intelligence and sometimes our attention is required to feel well again. Take a moment to notice that you're breathing. When you're ready take two or three long deep breaths. You have more control than you think.

I also specialize in individuals impacted by mental illness, addiction and/or trauma of a loved one.
Most people need help at various times in their lives navigating difficult experiences. My approach is collaborative, action-oriented and positive with individuals and couples. When relevant, I incorporate somatic (body) approaches, including EMDR and Brainspotting modalities to working with anxiety, phobias, trauma and other issues. My practice also includes the option of "walking and talking" outdoors. I am influenced by IFS / IFIO (parts work), self-compassion, feminist, and polyvagal approaches. I help clients connect more deeply with the past and address barriers to well-being in the present.

I have training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), a highly effective trauma therapy; ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention) the "gold standard" for treatment of OCD; and PRT (Pain Reprocessing Therapy), an evidence-based treatment for chronic pain.
When life situations feel complex, heavy, or confusing it is helpful to reach out for an assist.

I know that life can be hard and suffering is part of the human experience. I also know that we are all doing the best we can with the resources and experiences we are given and sometimes we need a little help and guidance to get "unstuck". This can feel very overwhelming and my goal as a therapist is to support you through that process. I will work hard to provide a safe and validating space for you and I also promise to challenge you to reach your goals in therapy. I will be there for you with my full, unbiased attention to support you in your journey to find healing through positive, long lasting change.

In a society with high standards, caregiving challenges, and demanding work environments, it is easy to forget about our own well-being. It can even appear more convenient to put our mental health on the back-burner, but if we disregard self-care it can lead to a burnout. Burnout can lead to mental exhaustion, cynicism, detachment, and depression. Furthermore, when we are burnt out, the light we shine on and for others is diminished. I can assist and support you in working through hardships that may cause you frustration, have you in a burnout state, and/or make it difficult for you to manage daily tasks.

The concept of "self-improvement" can be empowering, but also intimidating. In a problem-saturated world, it can be easy to define ourselves as our problems, instead of looking at them as operating forces that can then be explored.

I thrive in my work with creative, compassionate adults who are experiencing anxiety, burnout, or relationship stress. We may be a fit to work together if you are looking for a safer space to examine feelings of dissatisfaction or disconnect, and are curious about how to foster a greater sense of self-esteem and worthiness. I particularly enjoy working with self-described high achievers, and women in historically male-dominated industries. If you're ready to navigate your life more comfortably, gain confidence in communicating your needs, and build skills to better cope with your feelings - I look forward to supporting you in that.

We all have experienced times of overwhelm, sadness, and worry, or simply just finding ourselves at a crossroad. These situations can leave us feeling uncertain about how to move forward successfully in our lives. Psychotherapy can help you discover your innate strengths and resources to cope with while also facilitating the process of growth.

As a therapist, I see myself guiding people on their life path by overcoming such obstacles as depression, anxiety, fear, self-limiting beliefs, and helping them to experience instead the beauty and warmth of their inner rainbow, of claiming joy as their birthright. I love working especially with women at a major transition in their lives: whether from young adulthood to womanhood, from motherhood to 'empty nest' and, ultimately, menopause; women in quest for healthy relationships and a greater meaning in their lives. Spiritual growth, creativity, finding one's purpose - are important issues for everybody to be able to live life to its fullest. I weave my work with a variety of therapeutic approaches including Holistic Healing, Dreamwork and Art Therapy. I'll be happy to discuss any needs you might have to see which modality - group or/and individual therapy - would be the best for you.

Very early on in my youth, I found that all I wanted to do in this life was help others. Now, as a psychotherapist, nothing brings me more joy than helping clients find healing and feel more at peace in their minds, bodies, relationships, and life circumstances.

Anxious, depressed, or stuck? I work to create a safe, non-judgmental space for adults and adolescents of all religions, races, sexualities, and genders to process their life needs, wants, and fears. I provide psychotherapy within the context of a therapeutic working alliance; by first building trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship, one can then work towards tackling larger life goals. I work from a core belief that our minds and bodies are deeply connected. Treating the whole person, including the impact of stress on their physical body, is an important component to treating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and more.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
