I have training in EMDR, IFS, EFT, CBT, SE, DBT and Solution Focused therapy.
I believe we all have the capacity to learn, grow, heal and create long-lasting change. We hold the innate ability to discover and realize our true potential and live an authentic life in line with our deepest values. I view therapy as a shared, supportive, compassionate journey that can help you tune into your authentic self, develop attainable goals and work toward sustainable, meaningful change. By holistically addressing and integrating mind, body and spirit, all kinds of challenges-depression, anxiety, divorce, stress, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, and trauma-can be better understood and overcome.

I specialize in working with individuals aged 6 to adults using an approach that integrates effective therapies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Are you looking for a nonjudgmental, safe space to learn skills to feel better? Clients that seek me out are often looking for support in managing intense emotions like anxiety, depression, and mania. They often feel powerless over their feelings. For children and teens, sometimes this is observed through behaviors like isolation, acting out, or self-harming. Many times they wish there was a magic pill that could just solve all their problems so they could not feel like they are simply surviving. As we work together we will improve coping skills, connect with meaning and purpose, manage distress and create a more fulfilling life.

I am trained, and utilized in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Trauma Informed Therapy, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) in my practice.
NOT Accepting new clients: Are you struggling with feelings of negative emotions that are paralyzing? Ever have thoughts such as "I'm not deserving, I'm not good enough, I'm a failure, or I can't trust myself"? These can be healed and addressed with counseling while learning how to appropriately manage emotions through effective coping and healing of past traumas. EMDR is a form of treatment that allows the body to heal by eliminating the impact of negative beliefs from unresolved trauma and emotional distress. I integrate parts work and the goal is to let all parts of you feel seen and heard.

Using a combination of psychotherapy, CBT and DBT skills, you’ll cultivate the power of self-love!.
Your relationships are exhausting, work is utter drudgery, and your life feels like a series of haphazard demands. You’re sick of people-pleasing, but you can’t seem to stop. Invisibility used to be your superpower (secretly, you like that nobody notices your mistakes), but it feels like you have no purpose in your life anymore. You’ve stopped setting goals because let’s face it, you probably won’t meet them anyway. That inner critic is holding you hostage. You don’t even want to try. You’re tired of trying to make new friends and speak up for yourself. Feeling completely defeated, you’re on the verge of giving up altogether.

Amanda uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Amanda’s specialty is working with individuals ages 13 and up who are experiencing life or life cycle transitions and need additional support through that transitioning time period. This might look like a mother experiencing perinatal mental health concerns or recovering from birth trauma. Or it might look like a teenager experiencing higher anxiety levels and needing a therapist who tailors coping skills to that specific teen and their circumstances. Perhaps you are struggling at work with anxiety or feeling overwhelmed and can’t quite articulate the “why” behind it yet.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
