I also have trauma focused training, which includes EMDR.
Life is full of obstacles, whether they started early on in our life or later. Regardless, these life events can impact us in ways that can cause emotional, physical, and mental responses that we don’t always understand. We can get caught up in patterns and behavior we desperately want to breakout of but feel powerless to change. I truly understand the frustrations and hopelessness that can come with this, making it even more difficult to navigate through life and relationship-most often the ones that mean the most to us.

As a licensed psychologist, I have extensive training and experience using evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and trauma. I view the client-therapist relationship as a crucial component in facilitating client growth and work from a holistic and interdisciplinary framework, using a relational approach informed by cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, emotion-focused, and insight-oriented interventions. To ensure individualized care, I attend to client identities and cultural experiences (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender) to inform treatment and empower clients to identify and actively pursue their personal therapy goals.

Hi, I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Arizona and California. My passion is to help people who struggle with childhood trauma, depression, grief, and/or anxiety to process their life stories, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop the skills needed for the life they desire. Whatever that struggle may be, I believe that the human spirit is strong and capable of healing. I am passionate about working alongside my clients to heal those wounds and setting them up to live their best life!

Through Trauma-Informed Care, I understand how our past can shape us.
I love to work with individuals who are willing to grow and be open to the idea of adaptability and change. I would love for them to want to learn more about who they are as a person, and understand why they may do certain things. Through that insight, I hope for them to use what is learned in order to better improve their overall well-being. Maintaining a willingness to learn will always be beneficial for an individual and their journey.

There are times when obstacles are thrown at us that go unnoticed. As humans, we often forget how to face and overcome these obstacles. It takes courage to ask for help and share one's emotions to feel heard and accepted. I was drawn to this profession through my love for relationships and a deep desire to understand emotional processes and healing. The hope I have for my clients is to find physical, emotional, and mental healing through connection and self-awareness. Together, we can work on creating an environment that is filled with love and acceptance to overcome the challenges that are present.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
