I use a combination of EMDR and IFS, Internal Family Systems, guided meditation and relaxation techniques to help clients explore their feelings and needs so they can find the happiness they desire. Both EMDR and IFS are evidence-based, transformative therapies for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance abuse. Rooted in neuroscience, these approaches allow clients to access inner resources and self-compassion for healing emotional wounding at its core. I teach clients a new way to identify with their "wise, healthy self", separating the person from the symptom, so they can heal.

I am trained in EMDR therapy which can be a great technique when other types of therapy aren't helping, and I specialize in anger management and learning how to use healthy assertive communication.
Do you want to feel more confident and assertive? Do you struggle with self esteem or feeling good enough? I specialize in helping adults develop healthy self confidence, and live with more self esteem in life. Sometimes people might describe you as a "really nice person" or you might be feeling like a people pleaser. As a result it's common to struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, or relationships. Together we can explore some of the experiences in your life that are holding you back and learn new skills that will help you feel good about who you are, express your emotions in healthy ways, and find meaningful relationships.

I find that EMDR and Internal Family Systems, when used together, can lead to quicker symptom resolution than using traditional talk therapy alone.
Congratulations for having the courage to search for help navigating your emotional life. I am a licensed clinical social worker who works with a variety of clients dealing with emotional and relational challenges. Some are dealing with anxiety and depression that they don't completely understand. Others are having relationship problems with a significant other or family members. Many of the clients I work with have addiction issues which serve to temporarily cover up the pain or emptiness they are feeling. Talking to someone can help you get perspective and feel empowered to deal with overwhelming problems and emotions.

EMDR available.
Therapy is for people who are empowered to help themselves. Some people are not good at asking for help. Self-reliance is all you have ever known, and you are so used to being ‘the helper’ that you do not take the time to take care of yourself. You have become used to an unbalanced give and take, and your instinct is to figure it out on your own or tough it out. The time has come for your life to be the priority. Finding peace is not just a want but a priority. Reach out to me today to learn about how to take the first steps toward the life you deserve.

I offer EMDR, CBT, DBT, and more.
Can't stop thinking about the "what if's"? Or maybe you find yourself spending too much time obsessing about what people think of you. Sometimes you get to a point where enjoying the present is difficult and you just can’t seem to shake the feeling of being “on edge.” You may even get a sinking feeling in your stomach when Sunday rolls around knowing you have work or school ahead of you. Feelings and thoughts like this may seem like roadblocks to achieving your goals; however, change is possible.

I counsel from an integrative model of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy, in addition to utilizing evidence-based techniques such as EMDR and CPT.
I believe that everyone was made with the capacity for healing and growth, which often comes through relationships. I am passionate about the client/therapist relationship and believe having someone to be present while navigating current struggles or past trauma is powerful. I often see clients who feel as though they have no one with whom they can share their deepest pains and fears. I am intentional to provide a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to live the life they want to live.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
