Are you ready to do the hard work of sitting with uncomfortable feelings and identifying patterns that aren't serving you any longer? Are you ready to dig into the past and explore how it might be wreaking havoc in the present? I enjoy working with clients who are ready to make changes and need a space to get real about what's going on in their lives and express how they are truly feeling. I help clients work through childhood trauma, sex and other relational issues, big life transitions, grief, anxiety, and depression. I will set goals with you early in our work together to identify what you want to get out of therapy.

I have experience helping people manage stress, build self compassion, examine addiction patterns, cope with family member addiction, address developmental trauma, brave parenting challenges, and change the way they approach and interact within relationships.
To others, you seem to have it all together, but the pain of your past and future colliding keeps you up at night. Past injuries have a continual hold on you and influence your most important relationships. Acting in line with your heart does not seem possible when you're caught in these patterns. You are stuck, but things can change. Loving yourself and appreciating each moment is an attainable goal, and one that I can help you reach. Through our conversations, you will gain a better understanding of yourself and your beginnings and start to feel more peace within your life and relationships.

I work with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, isolation, disabilities, and issues with relationships.
A strong sense of self and well-being. Healthy connection in relationships. Positive, vibrant sexuality. Most of us want a meaningful life infused with these qualities, yet many struggle with the impact of grief, trauma, and troubled relationships. Through integration of Somatic Experiencing, a body-centered psychotherapy, with psychodynamic, relational counseling, I support clients to find their own innate ability to grow, to change and to find their unique path to healing. Whether you are seeking support to make a few changes in your life, or a partner and ally on your journey of transformation, let's talk and see whether we might work together.

I am passionate about working with women surrounding codependency, trauma, anxiety/depression, and attachment wounds from a heart-centered lens.
You're feeling stuck. You're finding yourself feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from life, others, and maybe yourself. You feel uncertain of your thoughts, wants, needs or what to do. Trauma can leave us feeling hopeless, exhausted, and alone. It can make us shut the world out, or put other's needs before our own in hope for solace. At times it can feel like change isn't possible, or if we just ignore it long enough it will resolve itself.

I use a trauma informed approach through tools such as EMDR and Sand tray therapy in addition to traditional talk therapy.
I believe that each one of us holds vast resources from which to grow and heal. Those resources are brought to their full power in the embrace of nurturing connected relationships. In counseling I aim to create a safe, nurturing space in which to access and develop your inner resources and identify and strengthen nurturing relationships.

I am a doctoral-level psychologist specializing in trauma resolution, attachment-related issues, relationship problems, and postpartum mood disorders. I facilitate healing by helping people connect deeply to themselves and others. People tend to seek me out when they feel stuck with their suffering and difficult feelings, and I imagine this is the case with you too. You've tried lots of things to move forward from the residuals of disappointing relationships, traumas, or depression and anxiety, but it isn't happening. Relief has been only temporary at best.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
