I am a bilingual, bicultural, second-generation Chicana with over ten years of experience working with diverse individuals, families, and communities. I provide individual therapy to adults 18+ and family therapy to adult children and their parents/relatives. I focus my practice on Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC). I am particularly interested in working with children of immigrants, immigrants, and members of the fat and LGBTQ+ communities. As a cis woman, I am committed to creating a safe therapeutic space for this community, especially Queer & Trans Black, Indigenous & People of Color (QTBIPOC).

I believe that providing a collaborative, calm, non-judgmental, and empathic environment is key to encouraging healing and growth. My aim is to help guide clients through choices that move them toward living a more valued life. Having worked in the advertising & marketing fields for many years, I'm intimately familiar with the fast-paced and performance-demanding environment that many of us are faced with in modern society and strive to find ways to bring a sense of calm to everyday life.

I provide supportive, challenging and direct therapy through a variety of strengths-based, trauma-informed, therapy modalities. I meet the client(s) where they are at when they come in to therapy however, I also look to you to take charge within the space to get what you need and move towards your goals. I use therapeutic modalities to assist in identifying patterns that will help us explore the impact on your functioning, relational interactions, and overall wellbeing. My clients include individuals and couples who experience challenges with trauma, family violence, mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders.

I've been counseling men and couples for over 40 years. My specialties are men with compulsive/addictive sexual behaviors, unresolved childhood abuse/trauma/neglect, anxiety/depression, relationship problems and intimacy issues. I also do couple's therapy teaching and helping couples in good communication and conflict management and how to heal from infidelity. Cornerstone has 5 outpatient treatment groups for men with sexual addiction. We also have very skilled therapist who treat childhood trauma and neglect with very highly regarded therapeutic methods and approaches including EMDR, Sensorimotor and Pesso Psychomotor Therapy.

Dr. Jonathan Hoistad has been involved with Developmental Psychology; Clinical Psychology; Health Psychology; and Neuropsychology. He has worked with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings. He is expert in Psychological evaluations for ADHD; Learning problems; and emotional problems. His doctoral research on Dialysis and Transplantation has prepared him to help people with medical problems and different surgical interventions. He is involved with NatalisOutcomes.org which measures emotional functioning over time to support people in their getting effective evidence based services.

It is a way to learn about how each construct the meaning that forms our lives and our feelings and to take responsibility for constructing them to be what we wish. My role as therapist is to correct, understand, empathize, suggest and confront. Therapy can be in turn difficult, fun, painful, confusing, boring, upsetting and once in a while transcending. Because the construction of meaning in our lives is active, I am not a passive listener but an active participant in the process of relationship and change.
