I help multiracial people and interracial couples build relationships where they can be their full selves. Trauma (whether personal or intergenerational) can cause you to forget who you are, be ashamed about who you are, and feel that you have to hide parts of who you are in order to belong and be loved. But the relationships you choose are opportunities to embody authenticity in ways that might not have been available to you in the past. I deeply believe that therapy is not about what needs to be fixed, but rather uncovering what wisdom already lies within and practicing how to harness it.

I enjoy getting to know my clients from the very beginning, in order to focus our counseling work on what best fits each person, family, or couple. I believe in establishing a strong, flexible, and collaborative therapeutic relationship as the foundation for positive work with clients. I am comfortable working with clients through a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship and/or family counseling, self-confidence and identity struggles, life transitions, feeling "stuck" in life, and much more. I am also open to including topics of spirituality in our counseling work, for any clients who are interested.

NOT accepting new clients..... Raising children is not easy. Whether they are 5 years old or 15 years old, challenges can arise. While understanding the demands of being a parent (and a kid) in this day and age, I take a straightforward approach to address difficulties head on. I work with parents to gain a better understanding of how they can improve their child's quality of life while simultaneously finding fun, creative, and engaging ways to teach youth coping strategies to use at home and school. Having worked with children and adolescents for the last 15 years, I possess great skills in connecting with youth of any age.

Sometimes we all need somebody to genuinely meet us where we are at in life with radical acceptance and compassion for who we are and where we want to go from here. But searching for the right person to connect with can be a daunting prospect, especially if you or your loved ones have lived experiences enduring societal rejections and systematic oppression. As such, my primary goal in therapy is to cultivate an inclusive, warming environment where you can safely and freely express your authentic self, which is why you deserve to know a little about me as well.

My work as a therapist is finding the treasure that I know is inside of you. I realize that your “gem” is often there, but covered up by years of bad habits, unfortunate events, or mental health issues beyond your control. I believe that you have your own answers to your problems and I am here to help you clarify and find those answers. I take a person-centered approach. I may challenge you, but do so with compassion and understanding that life is a journey with bumps in the road for all of us.

I am a non-traditional counselor with non-traditional training. I guide my clients in building a profound connection with themselves and their lives using somatic and intuitive engagement. I am both direct and supportive with my approach, offering a compassionate and growth-inducing environment. I work from a feminist, non-heteronormative, anti-racist lens, helping clients to build awareness around and free themselves from the embedded narratives we have adopted from our experiences of wounding both within our families and within our society. I also specialize in dream analysis, which can offer profound insights for our healing.

While there are many reasons that people seek therapy, the need for support and perspective are often high on the list. Therapy can be a safe haven where the more difficult things in life are explored and allowed the space to heal. I aim to make each of my clients feel understood, respected, and seen throughout the process. I bring a calm, sincere demeanor to my practice and aim to embody my values of competence, compassion, and collaboration.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
