I help them discover their issues, help them see their own values and needs, and guide them in establishing realistic goals. Educating clients is a strong technique I use. You can't know what you don't know, and what you don't know can and will usually hurt you or someone else. Many clients don't know their issues nor the actions/decisions they make that are hurting them or that cause them to make bad choices. Most are missing vital information that they need. I try to learn their value system and provide information from reputable sources that fit them. They often believe that their wants are their needs.

Life can often feel like a roller coaster. The pressure to perform in various areas of life can feel heavy and difficult. We all have personal and relational things impacting our lives no matter what stage of life we are in. I understand that it's difficult to ask for help and yet I know from personal experience the first step toward healing can be reaching out to someone who is able and willing to listen and walk the journey with you for a time.

Hello! Are you wanting to start or continue the journey of self-exploration? Are you struggling with an issue and not sure the way forward? A lot of us out there don't feel like we can ask for or accept help, and we need to change the framework around this. Everyone is deserving of help and should get it when needed. Heck, we need it sometimes to get back up. Taking care of our mental health is pivotal to our happiness, growth, and success. My areas of expertise have been addictions/substance use, anxiety, depression, and men's issues.

I work with kids and adults from all over the world, and use an integrative approach to counseling, as I don't believe that one-size-fits-all in therapy. I am passionate about helping expat adults and third culture kids (TCK's) as they live in new cultures and navigate all that entails. I also enjoy working with international clients, specifically Arab clients, and have a good understanding of the culture and traditions. I am EMDR Trained (Level 2), trauma informed, adoption informed, I coach parents of kids with an FASD and use mindfulness, self-compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT & REBT), and person-centered approaches.

We all need to explore our fears, insecurities and those places of which we are not proud. My wish is to provide a safe place to allow individuals, families, or couples to explore those vulnerable places and begin healing. I have experience working with CPTSD and PTSD. I am trauma trained in EMDR and TFCBT. I chose to be a therapist to help clients understand that they are valued, and they can accept themselves, flaws and all. I am transparent in the active healing research-based approach I use in sessions. I want to empower clients to increase coping skills as well as engage in healthy relationships.

We all consider therapy for different reasons, but when we book the appointment and actually show up, it’s because we hold a bit of hope that therapy might help. Whether you're new to therapy or returning to deepen self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, or address specific symptoms of a mental health diagnosis, I provide space to explore these and other life experiences. If your experience is related to pregnancy, infertility, pregnancy loss, or OCD, I am specialized to provide support in those areas. I work with clients who are ready to take steps toward creating a life that feels meaningful and aligned with their values.

As we go through life we face challenges, from these challenges we may experience pain and suffering. As this pain becomes stored within us it creates burdens that may sometimes be too heavy to bear. As a result many may turn to temporary solutions. As I work with clients to explore and resolve pain and trauma more permanent solutions are often discovered and the burden of pain is reduced.

“Together we will cry and face fear and grief. We may feel alone in moments of darkness, confusion or in the presence of the unknown; you are not alone! We will work to trust the process of sitting with the uncomfortable, embracing uniqueness and vulnerabilities and identifying thoughts and feelings that prevent us from seeing our best selves.

Often when we are struggling we either don’t know what needs to change or we just feel stuck, and sometimes we just need help trying to pinpoint what isn’t working. Navigating change can be scary and feel daunting. Even if the change is for the better. This applies to both individuals and couples. I prioritize genuineness and being transparent when it comes to mental health because sometimes we don’t want to be told that everything will be okay. Sometimes we just want to know we aren’t going through struggle alone.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
