Relationships are the bedrock of who we are. We are social beings and many of us spend most, if not all of our lives trying to understand ourselves and others within relationships. In relationships we love, we trust, we heal, but we can also hurt. It is in the brokenness of past or current relationships where we have an opportunity to become a healthier version of ourselves with guidance. I am a Christian mental health care therapist that would like to serve and provide that guidance to a healthier/healed version of you.

It's uncomfortable to reach out for help, to reveal our pain and personal matters to anyone, let alone a stranger. This is why my priority is creating a safe, judgment free space to build a genuine connection with my clients. In addition to developing strategies to relieve immediate distress, I apply my 15 years in mental health, from home-based to hospital crisis work, to help you identify the reasons behind your struggles and resolve the underlying causes. This provides the framework for positive growth and a deeper understanding of oneself, for lasting results.

I believe that while pain is inevitable, suffering is not. Suffering is pain plus all the reactions, feelings, judgments, and ways of coping that add to the experience of pain. No one wants pain or suffering, but what if your methods for dealing with them haven’t worked—and may even have complicated matters? Welcome to the human race!—and to therapy where a professional perspective makes the difference.

Life is so hard when we’re stuck in our own heads; repeating the same scenarios, worries, and self-critical thoughts over and over again - it's exhausting! Does it feel like no matter how hard you try, it’s NEVER all done...figured out...or good enough? Are you spending your energy worrying, stressing and controlling instead of making progress toward your goals? The body tension, migraines and stomach aches (often triggered by stress) make daily life so much harder than it has to be. Anger and sadness take over and our relationships, jobs and family suffer with us.

Thank you for taking the first step towards healing by seeking a counselor. I am here to listen and be supportive on your journey, while not being judgmental. of your journey. Hopefully while working together, you are not only able to find healing, but also start to take steps back into God's purpose for you. We have a Greater Purpose in life than our current situation. Just like the seasons changed the leaves on a tree, our situations in life changes. I understand the importance of living a Biblical life in our current society. Sometimes we need a safe space to be human and apply our faith without fear while healing.

Trauma impacts us in ways we can’t imagine. It affects human development and rewires our brain. I remember seeing the impact trauma from childhood had for my adult clients. I remember seeing elementary school children and the impact trauma has on their ability to develop healthy relationships. Processing trauma isn’t something you need to do alone. I can still remember meeting with a teen girl and seeing her relief after processing her trauma and expressing how much better she felt. Working through trauma allows my clients to feel relief and feel a decrease in their daily triggers.

Counseling at Sunstone Health & Wellness is done in a very relaxed, conversational way to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Most of the time, we know the solutions to our own problems. But there are those rare occasions when we all need a little extra support, education, and resources to help us continue on the path to living the best life possible. Counseling can be a powerful tool to create change and take action in the life you've always wanted to live.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
