It is natural to go through periods of life where you may feel overwhelmed by stress and anxiety. This might include feeling stuck, depressed, or confused about the direction of your life and relationships. You may be struggling with lasting fears and negative patterns of behavior, or feel that your emotions are difficult to control. Sometimes past experiences continue to linger, affecting how you relate to others and the world around you. Choosing to engage in therapy, that includes a positive therapeutic relationship and skill building, can open the door to overcoming these obstacles, and can make lasting, powerful transformations in your life and relationships.

Are you looking to better understand yourself and your relationships? Are you curious about the patterns that keep showing up in your life? Do you want to learn how to better navigate life’s changes? Together, you and I can explore what therapy means to you, and how your past experiences shape who you are today. Your internal narratives - how you experience yourself and the world - are often supported by unconscious thoughts and emotions. This unconsciousness could be inadvertently keeping you stuck. As you bring your unconscious into awareness, new possibilities for choice and change become possible.

As your therapist, I would provide a collaborative partnership that allows you to move towards your goals; both support and challenge would be provided to allow opportunities for healing and personal growth. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial for psychotherapy to be effective. A strong relationship can allow for self-reflection and a greater understanding of ourselves and our patterns in relationships, helps us manage challenges, nurture feelings of empowerment, allow us to take the risks we want, and afford us opportunities for resiliency and greater life satisfaction. Please call for a free phone consultation.

Our histories and experiences have an impact on each and every one of our relationships. Gaining a broader understanding of just how they have shaped us can be a significant component of developing and sustaining mutually satisfying relationships. With more than a dozen years of experience working with couples and families I focus primarily on relationship dynamics including marital enrichment, conflict resolution, parenting skills and behavioral problems. Additionally, I work with a broad range of mental health related concerns including anxiety, stress management, depression, grief, trauma, and various comorbidities.

"Real healing can begin only when we finally learn to be present in the places where we have been absent." So many of us find ourselves repeating patterns of behavior we consciously experience a desire to let go of. What keeps us stuck is that we are disconnected from the places within us where our actions come from. My work with clients focuses on uncovering truth, with compassion and without judgment. My approach to therapy centers on the belief that "healing is making whole." Attention is, therefore, given to the whole of the individual: mind, heart, body and soul.

You've been struggling to keep up with the demands of your life. You've been comparing yourself to others and wondering if you're overexaggerating your problems. You're starting to wonder if healing is even possible for you. But what if I told you that I know a secret about you? One that other people in your life know, but that you clearly do not.... YOU are the HERO of your own story.

Relationships and life transitions can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly challenging—and it’s okay to need support along the way. As a Georgia therapist, I specialize in helping individuals and couples strengthen their relationships and navigate life’s major transitions, including the changes that come with pregnancy and early parenthood, parenting challenges, and shifting partnership dynamics. I especially enjoy supporting couples who feel disconnected after becoming parents, couples navigating ADHD/non-ADHD dynamics, and partners who want to communicate more effectively and feel more like a team again.

If you’ve ever whispered to yourself, “There’s got to be more to life than feeling like this,” know that I hear you. You’ve been moving, giving, showing up for everyone else even when your soul quietly says, “I’m tired.” Smiling when you’re drained, staying strong when you feel broken, saying “I’m fine” when you’re anything but. I see the weight of that. I see you. Even on the days you wish you could drift away, searching for escape, something in you still hopes for more. That hope matters. It reminds you that you deserve care, love, and healing too. In many ways, therapy is like Jill Scott’s song "A Long Walk"

Experience tells me that most people who seek counseling feel unable to make changes in their life that could bring them greater happiness. I consider it my responsibility and a privilege to facilitate your journey of self-empowerment to make these desired changes. Together we will explore how current patterns of feeling, thinking and acting could be altered by increasing mindfulness and self-compassion. While most of our focus is on the present and future, I also seek to honor your past by exploring how unresolved feelings may be hindering your growth and ability to meet personal goals.

You've been holding it all together, the career, family, deadlines, people counting on you, but inside, it feels like you're running on fumes. You know there’s a way to grow without burning out, to feel grounded even when life gets loud. In our work together, we'll create a space where you don't have to perform. This is your space to breathe, unpack the pressure, and remember who you are beyond the hustle. Therapy is not about fixing you; it's about giving you tools to move through anxiety, overwhelm, and self-doubt so you can show up for your people and yourself with clarity and peace.

Life often moves at a fast pace, leaving little time to reflect on all we've experienced—especially in times of change or grief. Whether you're navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, or just feel disconnected, it can be helpful to have a space where you can slow down and process. Therapy offers just that—a dedicated space to explore your experiences, both the small moments and the significant life changes, so you can better understand what's going on inside.

You may be wrestling with thoughts that won’t quiet down, emotions that feel too big, or patterns that seem to repeat no matter how hard you try to change them. Whether you’re navigating the weight of depression, the relentless loop of obsessive thinking, or the physical and emotional exhaustion of anxiety, therapy can offer a space to pause, notice, and choose a new way forward. My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. I work with people who want more than symptom relief, they want to show up more fully in their relationships, and feel anchor in their values, even when life is hard.

Our bodies are naturally trying to heal. Persistent mood symptoms are often linked to Healing and Growth processes to which our bodies largely default without our intent. Our experiences and backgrounds may serve to frustrate or otherwise impact these processes. Therapy can help clients identify their particular operating styles regarding healing from trauma or losses, and identify how to deliberately support improved mood management and make room for healthy grieving, adaptation, and Hope.

Do you feel as though unhealthy coping skills are preventing you from becoming your "Best Self"? Sometimes in life, we face adverse situations in which we learn to cope using unhealthy skills. This may cause us to feel stuck and wondering why we can't do the things that we know, think, and feel would be helpful? Unhealthy coping behaviors may cause a person to feel stuck and wonder why they aren't progressing. Unfortunately, we continue to use these skills in ways that are no longer beneficial and eventually cause harm to our functioning. Therapy can be helpful in identifying, eliminating, and replacing these harmful behaviors.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
