I rely on evidence based methods and my approach is solution-focused and strength-based.
Maybe you've been listening to podcasts, been in masterclasses, and reading self-help books thinking about your emotions so much that you haven't been feeling them. Or maybe you feel as though you are experiencing your emotions "too much." Either way, if you could do this by yourself (whatever the "this" is for you), you would have done it by now! It takes strength and courage to start therapy, and I applaud you for exploring your options. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I offer resilience informed therapy for emotional wellness, mental health, and trauma recovery.

I have been in the field since 2007 working with individuals, couples, and families dealing with issues ranging from depression and anxiety to addiction and homelessness. I work with all ages, especially focusing on family groups seen individually and together. Every client creates a goal centered plan that includes a variety of interventions from sand and art therapy to trauma focused CBT. Therapy is a safe place to share your journey, learn from the past and move towards the future.

Adolescence can be a rocky time for many people, but I believe therapy can be of great help. I work with teenagers and young adults, struggling primarily with mood, identity, and impulse control difficulties. My goals are to help young people build their strengths and relationships in order to find happiness and success as emerging adults. Some of the things I treat are: depression, self-harm, anxiety, family conflict, gender dysphoria, transition to young adulthood stress, and disordered eating habits. Generally I practice cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectal-behavior therapy (DBT) within a caring, humanistic approach.

I help overthinkers, perfectionists, and women with imposter syndrome to feel less weighed down by their thoughts, and more free to live a fulfilling life. Clients who come to me are often overwhelmed with pressure to get things perfect and struggle with feeling “enough.” They often prioritize everyone else’s needs over their own and are left feeling emotionally and physically exhausted. They feel like everyone else has it “figured out”, and they want that too. My clients are ready to create change in their lives and feel more peace of mind.

Coaching, counseling and consulting for busy adults striving to achieve mental and emotional wellness. Too often the anxiety and stress of life, career, self-image and identity leave us feeling confused, unfulfilled, unhappy and stuck. Your life is busy, you have everything you need but still, something is missing. We are not taught how to manage our mental and emotional health. We are left to figure it out on our own. It is critical to figure out what works for us, engages us and also what limits us so we can move through life with a strong sense of vision and purpose.

Acceptance, empathy, and respect are the core values I live by and believe necessary when establishing a safe space while walking through the challenges you are experiencing. I get it, it is hard taking the first step to seek help. You may have been going through some difficult situations for a long time, but it does not have to remain that way. I believe you are the expert of your life and I honor that by providing a sacred space for you to process your thoughts and feelings. Together, we can discover your natural ability that fosters the change you seek.

Progress in life is a process. To move forward, sometimes you have to look back to see how much progress you have made, but you must also look ahead to see how much more progress remains. This process doesn't come without bumps and bruises. Young adults and student-athletes who struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, and systematic oppression benefit the most from working individually with me to reach their goals.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
