I work with individuals across the lifespan, drawing from an intuitive blend of therapeutic approaches, including attachment-based, inner child work, existential, Jungian, CBT, and holistic approaches.
My clients come to therapy with a desire to better understand themselves, their patterns, and the implicit beliefs they hold about themselves and the world. They are deep thinkers and feelers with a great appreciation for humor as part of the therapeutic process. They are often striving to become (and befriend) the best version of themselves. Together, we balance insights and perspectives with tools that guide transformation and growth.

With children and families, I utilize attachment-based interventions, play therapy and parent-child psychotherapy.
Understanding the dynamics behind the repeating processes in your life, whether they are symptoms or undesirable patterns, is the first step for meaningful and durable change. I work with both adults and children who have different forms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or stressful life transitions. I also work with children who present with developmental or behavioral issues.

In my work with young children, I utilize a variety of attachment-based techniques, including floor time, dramatic play, and art therapy.
What are the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves? Where do we learn them? Therapy is a great place to start creating new stories that are more aligned with your values and desires. I believe that healing happens in the relationship and approach therapy as a creative, collaborative experience between therapist and client, where humor, kindness, and self-expression are valued and encouraged. My areas of expertise include working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and family conflict, though I work with individuals of all ages to help them manage the stressors of life and achieve greater self-awareness

Therapy gives you an opportunity to transform and move toward a deeper understanding of yourself as life unfolds. Amidst times that may feel dark, overwhelming, or lacking vitality, anxiety and dissociation can manifest in so many ways that feel fragmenting and harmful to the self and body. We can be strongly defended against our unconscious wishes, fantasies, and unmet needs. How and why we behave, think, get stuck or feel fear, love, shame, and joy are layered with so much meaning. Together, we may find ways to build resilience, steps toward action, self-awareness, fulfilling connection, and a sense of wholeness.

I approach therapy from the perspective that healing comes through the caring and dynamic engagement created between two people. Our time together will be a collaboration that encourages mutual presence, relatedness and commitment. Research confirms the importance of this. While no specific technique is consistently effective in eliciting change, certain therapists who bring a particular quality to their work often are. I believe I am such a therapist and my clients consistently report feeling met, nurtured, and empowered by the work we do together.

Striving for mental health and wellness in a society with as many issues as ours is hard. Finding a therapist to support you in that, can sometimes feel even harder. What criteria do you base your decision on? Degrees, years in practice, areas of expertise, whether they still meet people in person... But what a profile and your research cannot tell you, happens to be the most important criteria: if the two of you will "fit.” The best and quickest way to know for certain is to schedule the appointment.

I am a NYS Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned my doctorate from NYU. Prior to starting my practice in Brooklyn, I worked in various settings, specializing in trauma work and resiliency. The first task of the therapeutic process is establishing a safe and healthy relationship with the therapist where core needs are met. With this foundation, an individual may embark on a journey of exploration into their vulnerabilities and strengths, striving to harmonize their impact on emotional states and ultimately strengthening the healthy self.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
