I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with years of experience working in the mental health field. I am certified in perinatal mental health. My approach incorporates the awareness of the important connection between mind and body, and I work holistically with my patients to provide medical solutions for complex emotional health issues. My therapeutic style is interactive, and patient centered, and I enjoy working with patients that are motivated for wellness. There is no “one size fits all” approach to healing and I tailor my approach to meet the needs of each individual patient.

I have a background that includes over 30 years experience and knowledge in providing mental health care to clients who need help dealing with diverse mental health issues and problems. Those who desire improved and better quality relationships whether in marriage, as a parent, in friendships, with relatives, including extended family, or in the workplace should contact me. I also have extensive experience working with clients who suffer from low self esteem, self-worth concerns and the illnesses that emanate from that like substances abuse, depression and anxiety. Improving quality of life addressing forgiveness issues is also a specialty.

I am double board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I believe in using both medication when indicated as well as therapy. I was trained in CBT and was given the Excellence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program. I use supportive therapy with each client I see. During my residency I served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Overall Excellence in Psychiatry Award as well as the Clinical Excellence Award.

I have been a board certified psychiatric, mental health nurse practitioner for the past 6 years but have dedicated over 20 years to mental health care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Muna Behavioral Health is a privately owned care center that makes mental health care services accessible to young adults and older individuals. Habiba Mzougui is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of experience treating patients across the lifespan. She is a graduate of Drexel University. She has cared for adults and children living with depression, anxiety, trauma, and childhood-related conditions such as ADHD, emotional dysregulation/anger management, learning, and behavioral challenges. NP Mzougui is passionate about the mental health of children and families. She believes the individual or family is the expert on their life, and collaboration with families results in the best outcome.

Dr. Perlmutter is the Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Talkiatry. She is double board certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry. Prior to joining Talkiatry, Dr. Perlmutter was the Chair of Behavioral Health and Addiction Services at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. Prior to Bergen New Bridge, she was the Director of Inpatient Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center-Wakefield, in New York. Over 35 years, Dr. Perlmutter has held numerous leadership roles with some of the largest hospital systems in the New York Metro Area.
