Are you anxious about your relationship? It can be very daunting and even feel shameful or disloyal to approach a therapist about personal problems in your relationship or the fact that you aren't in one or find it hard to sustain one. We seek help for other concerns why not with relationship problems? Therapists, like carpenters have tools to offer that can help you make repairs. Speaking about your concerns aloud with an experienced and empathetic listener can disempower the anxiety so the work of recovery can begin. I have enjoyed working in the NHS and privately over many years on relationship and sexual problems.
I use techniques to improve communication and listening skills and support clients to express their emotional and sexual needs and learn to set appropriate boundries. I support couples and indivduals facing chronic illness, cultural and religious difference and many other challenges. I also work with clients facing separation, bereavement and depression
The most important thing agreed by therapists across all modalities is the relationship between client and therapist. The client needs to feel safe, trusted, listened to and heard. I offer an empathetic and non judgemental approach to therapy suggesting alternative ways to think about problems and solutions, questioning assumptions and perceptions.
