We all struggle with life at times. situations and people can challenge us and the feeling of being alone or not knowing where to turn can be overwhelming. When you can no longer see joy in the world maybe you need some help finding yourself again. I will help you lift that heavy weight that is keeping you down. If anxiety is affecting your life we can explore the triggers and find ways to alleviate the symptoms and bring control back to your life. This will improve sleep and allow you to access the world fully again.

There are many reasons why individuals choose to access therapy and it can be a daunting, sometimes painful, step. Please be assured that, with over a decade of experience, I offer an even-handed yet supportive approach in a safe, confidential setting. Hello, and welcome to my profile. Making the decision to see a counsellor can take an immense amount of courage - acknowledging that you may need some help in talking through and making sense of some of the feelings causing you pain can feel a big step. There may be events, or even moments, that leave you fighting for breath. Feelings of shame or failure that you cannot seem to shift, or a sense of dread and foreboding, making everyday life a struggle. Perhaps the death of a loved one, conflict with family or friends, or a significant life change such as divorce or redundancy has caused you to feel off balance.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, particularly with the current economic and environmental uncertainty. Anxiety, depression and loneliness are common issues many people face on top of relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, and trauma. Therapy offers the chance to talk about what is bothering you in a warm, empathic and confidential space. I am a registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with the BPC & BACP and have found that by giving someone the space to talk and reflect on how they feel, and where those feelings come from, enables them to understand themselves better.

Clients often come to see me with struggles in their relationships, symptoms of anxiety or experiences of depression. Sometimes people know of relationships, specific events, or thinking patterns that are causing them difficulties, other times they just know they are feeling low and are looking for help. Guided by my clients, I set out to establish individual goals for therapy and hope to tailor the sessions as much as possible to the person. Your sessions, will be what you need them to be, whether that is sitting with grief and silence, understanding the nervous system, or getting expressive with crayons.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
