I offer a genuine and empathic therapeutic relationship where confidentiality and respect are the cornerstones of my practice.
Hello and a warm welcome. Making the decision to see a therapist is a big step, but it can be a positive one. As an experienced, Humanistic Integrative Therapist registered with the BACP, my aim is to be alongside you and listen without judgement, whilst helping you explore at your own pace, whatever difficulties you maybe facing. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed? Or perhaps you are experiencing low self esteem, stress or burnout because your work/life balance isn’t what you’d like it to be? Equally, you may want to work through some important life changes and evaluate your next steps.

If you are coping with high levels of anxiety or depression, if past traumatic experiences are interfering in your ability to manage the present and sleep is problematic then this can change. By understanding what is happening in your system (mind and body), using your natural resources well and having some new tools to use, you can get back into balance, to the you that is resilient, able to focus and live to your potential.

I am a Chartered Psychologist (HCPC) and Registered Psychotherapist (UKCP) using a wealth of experience and expertise to work with people with anxiety, depression, relationship issues and many other mental health problems.
Psychotherapy is about being listened to and seen in a particular way. There is nowhere else in life that offers a time and space to focus on your 'self' - your body and your mind. My Kent practice is in the village of Bridge near Canterbury and is easy to reach.

You may feel caught in the same painful patterns - arguments that go no where, anxiety, self-doubt, or relationships that make you feel stuck.
Couples can easily become trapped in painful cycles where neither partner feels truly heard or understood. Miscommunication can make either party feel defensive anger, or pull one of you to withdraw. Together we will work to uncover your patterns of communicating and learn new ways to see and hear each other. We will rebuild trust and empathy.

bereavement, anxiety and life-limiting illness or conditions and I really enjoy working with couples and with groups.
Therapy is personal journey, unique to you and directed by what you want to achieve; I trained in Relational Transactional Analysis and use this modality to support my clients' growth in self awareness and understanding of the unconscious patterns that have been driving their behaviour. Many clients can't fully articulate what they want from therapy, only that they want things to be different, this is normal, and part of the process of therapy is working with you to discover what you want. On the way we aim to discover what blocks you from achieving your goals and support you in finding new paths to reach your goal.

I work with young people aged 16+, adults, individuals, and couples.
I draw from a range of approaches to tailor therapy to your individual needs, believing there is no “one size fits all” for emotional wellbeing. Whether you need support with current difficulties, want to understand patterns and habits, or make positive life changes, therapy can encourage reflection, growth, and lasting change.

Creative psychotherapy helps people think, feel and express ourselves in a less guarded way. Through an established and effective approach you are helped to feel at ease. When facing problems it can be difficult to be openly verbal as unconscious defences can deflect true feelings. Psychotherapy has adapted by integrating techniques that draw on creativity to explore difficult or intangible thoughts and feelings.

Whilst I ensure that my interventions are evidence based and grounded in theoretical knowledge I firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in fostering change.
You might be feeling anxious and stressed at the moment or looking for support for something that has been an issue for a long time. I will create a space for you to explore things you might not have been able to speak about before. I have a wide experience base as the foundation to my private practice. This includes Psychiatric rehabilitation, drug and alcohol treatment services, eating disorders, acute adolescent psychiatric inpatient settings and work with children and young people in the care system. I work integratively which means I draw from a range of therapeutic models to create a care plan that best fits your needs.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
