Having lived courageously with type 1 diabetes for 30+ years, I have a sincere interest in working with those navigating the psycho-social impacts of chronic illness on emotional and relational well-being.
There are times in our lives when the direction along our path remains unclear. We know we are going forward, yet we are unsure of our destination. It is in these moments of life that we may turn to our systems of support to help guide the way. As a member of your support system, my goal is to help plant the seeds along your path that will allow you to weather the storm and emerge along your journey with blossoming hope. I am proud of you for taking a brave step toward this goal.

As well as many relational issues with individuals, couples and families, such as communication, lack of intimacy and helping new parents transition into parenthood.
I am currently accepting new individual or couple clients for in person or virtual therapy sessions. As an individual and couple's therapist, my goal is to provide you with a comfortable environment in which you can explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviors and personal challenges. I know at times we are overwhelmed by life's challenges. This can lead to feeling lost, confused, overwhelmed, stuck or hopeless. I believe therapy is a great asset in getting you through such a difficult time and moving towards feeling better. I would be happy to be your therapist and accompany you on this new experience.

Relational Psychotherapy is best suited for individuals, couples and families who are experiencing chronic emotional, mental, relational or spiritual distress and who would like to engage in deeper therapeutic work to integrate aspects of their story long forgotten or disavowed due to shame, fear, despair or guilt.
Relational Psychotherapy is an approach that focuses on the connection between self and other. This type of framework locates a person’s difficulties within an interconnected web of relationships. The premise is that we are born into relationships and we are formed by them. In these relationships we can experience both trauma and joy and it is through relationship that we can begin our journey towards integration and personal wholeness. We cannot eradicate suffering but we can allow it to transform us to bring our best self forward into the future.

Choosing yourself can be a struggle. Especially if you’ve been conditioned to choose others since your younger years. It’s never too late to start now and begin to prioritize your own needs. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from yourself or others you are not alone. Therapy is a safe space to restore your mental, emotional, and relational health. I have a deep passion for helping people grieve their losses, process their traumas, celebrate their wins, take their power back, and learn to love and trust themselves after trauma.

Wherever you find yourself at this moment, there is possibility. Whether you’re wading through hard times, on the brink of change, or seeking personal growth, therapy can provide an opportunity to encounter yourself in a new way. I approach therapy from an attachment-based, trauma-informed, somatically-oriented perspective. This means that I attend to my clients’ emotions, experiences, and bodily felt sense as they emerge in our work together. An avid learner, I am pursuing ongoing training in AEDP, a modality that blends all these aspects within the container of a deeply relational therapeutic process.

I offer relational, psychodynamic, somatic informed psychotherapy.
Navigating loss, feeling anxious or frustrated with life, or difficulties in relationships can leave us feeling overwhelmed and unsure what to do. For most of us, we’re not familiar with how to deal with hard feelings. So we adapt as best we can, and develop strategies to cope. Sometimes these strategies begin to interfere with our lives, and may even make us feel worse. The good news is, therapy can help you with this. By being curious about your experiences, and listening intently, we can begin to learn what your needs are and find supportive ways to deal with the hard stuff, and move you towards feeling better & less alone.

She is a relational, insight-oriented clinical supervisor for Qualifying and Registered Psychotherapists, graduate-level students, and practicing supervisors.
You? You're probably awestruck by the beauty of this world but also heart-broken by the cruelty of some of the people in it, and enraged at the injustice. Maybe you have unimaginably intense emotions that you struggle to surf, a quick mind but difficulties connecting with others, creative impulses you can't quite express (or not as fluidly as you used to), or are in a relationship where one of you is a POC and the other isn't and you're just trying to make your crazy love work. You might be a healthcare provider needing to replenish your own well, or a therapist seeking an empowering clinical supervisor.

I'm a trauma-informed therapist using a relational approach to help client transform unhelpful patterns, live more freely and fully, find lasting joy, and build satisfying relationships. In you I see a unique and complex person - your individualised temperaments, feelings, relational patterns, and unmet needs. In therapy, we dissect your distress from a compassionate angle and fathom how the past is causing the present difficulties. Positive changes follow as we get to express what was repressed, hence a freedom to make self-directed choices in life. I'm trilingual and speak English/Cantonese廣東話/Mandarin普通話.

I use the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) as the primary framework, which allows us to explore your heart’s desire and what’s in the way of you connecting with yourself and others.
As humankind, I genuinely believe that we all have something in common: The need and desire for Connection. It is my core belief that this beautiful common attribute we all possess enables me to better accompany you in the healing journey. In sessions, we will be holding the curiosity about your inner world and all levels of experiences, including emotional, cognitive, somatic, and relational. We will be exploring together what you deeply want for yourself and what is in the way of that.

Relational Counsellors

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioural therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
