Has COVID has made life for you or your family harder? Are cyber bullying, online addiction, increased anxiety and depression becoming a problem? Do you have concerns about ADHD, Autism, or other developmental conditions? Parents often struggle to understand their own feelings and emotions when they see their child in pain. Many of the troubling behaviours that we see are really cries for help and support. Children and teenagers experience stresses that didn’t exist only a short time ago and need our help. We are living in challenging times and the good news is that help is available both online and in person.

I have worked with trauma, PTSD, MVA, self-image issues, insomnia, drug abuse, anxiety, & depression.
Offering sessions in Russian and English, my main focus is relationships. I work by peeling apart narratives surrounding the issue, educating the couple on the specific tools I used, and how to apply them independently. For individuals, I offer a toolbox of various CBT, SFT, and Narrative Therapy methodology that we collaborate on fitting and applying. After closely exploring ones relational functioning - breakups, tough relationships and family situations, I proceed to focus on immediate needs, with the aim of boosting overall functioning. Lost after trauma, or hurting day after day - If these are your issues, I may be of service.

I help clients connect with their present-moment experience, while my approach is very much trauma-informed and psychodynamic.
Together we will build deeper awareness of your mind-body connection; which can develop greater self-regulation, a healthier sense of self and more satisfying interpersonal relationships! Drawing on my experiences with addiction, recovery, meditation, blended family life, and psychotherapy means I really appreciate the role a safe therapeutic environment plays in helping people effectively encounter the emotions and long-standing narratives that might be holding you back from your desired life.

I am experienced in providing therapy for depression, anxiety, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief, body image and eating problems, trauma, relationship difficulties, procrastination, perfectionism, self-esteem, chronic pain, disability, and burnout.
If you are looking for a supportive environment in which to tackle your mental health concerns, I offer a non-judgmental space where you will be accepted unconditionally. Just as pain and suffering are an integral part of human life, so is our capacity for healing. The safety of the therapeutic relationship offers you an opportunity to face past hurts and present difficulties, let go of defenses that no longer serve you, and adopt new coping mechanisms. I use an integrative approach to help you process emotions, change unhelpful thinking patterns, develop a mental well-being toolbox, and live a life more in line with your values.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
