About
I am a PhD-level psychologist with a background in treating depression and anxiety, as well as other life stressors including relationship difficulties, adjustment issues, low self-esteem, emotion dysregulation, and life transitions. I also have a special interest in women's prenatal and postpartum mental health, as well as supporting women and families with their transition to parenthood. My goal is to help clients regain control of their lives by increasing coping skills and reducing emotional pain and suffering. My background consists of 16 years of experience including therapy with adolescents, adults, and elderly clients.
I take a client-centered approach, which emphasizes that a collaborative, supportive, and non-judgmental relationship between client and psychologist is a key component of therapy. My background and training is in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), although I draw from other therapeutic approaches to individualize treatment based on client needs.
I strongly believe in the importance of fit between psychologist and client, and provide a free 15-minute consultation to help you decide if working together is right for you. Appointments can be booked by phone (403-990-7552) or at dryoungpsychology@gmail.com. Friday daytime and limited weekday evening appointments are available, as well as direct billing.
