I have worked with many people experiencing major life transitions, trauma in its many forms, including loss, neglect, abuse, accidents, illness, war, immigration, racism and homophobia.
I have worked in the field of mental health for 30 years. This includes more than 20 years of experience working with individuals in a private psychotherapy practice. Said simply, I believe the intention of psychotherapy is to help people feel better and feel better equipped to live well. These objectives are determined by each client, as they consider their own context, influences, hopes and goals. I try to approach each person and each psychotherapy with intellect, curiosity, creativity and respect.

At a time when many people feel more alone and less heard than ever, I warmly invite you to tell your story. I’m a Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience, guiding and treating individuals who struggle with anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement, grief, trauma, unwanted change, and relationship difficulties. What my clients often discover is that the stress and doubts weighing them down also help reveal their hidden and lost needs – the opening page of a new road map.

Most of us at some point in our lives need someone to talk to and someone to listen to us, someone that can provide us with a safe place to just be; a sanctuary that allows us to be with our feelings, to get in touch with our needs and our hearts. Whether it is relationship difficulties, job loss, illness, death of a loved one, addiction or mental health concerns that have brought you to my website; all these life transitions can tax our ability to cope in healthy ways leaving us stressed, sleepless and overwhelmed while the rest of our lives seemingly unravel.

I also support those coping with grief, loss, and trauma.
At times we can feel weighed down by sadness, anxiety, shame, a harsh inner critic, or not feeling “good enough”. This can sometimes occur with difficulty with people pleasing, perfectionism, chronic worry, or unreasonably high self-standards. Are you a high performer, an artist, athlete, dancer (or former)? Has a life transition or loss left you feeling overwhelmed? I strive to help folks like you to build a more compassionate and loving self-relationship, to process difficult life experiences, and to learn more effective coping tools to manage anxiety, mood, and stress symptoms that can get in the way of living our lives.

Change is an inevitable part of life and, while it is natural and we change in ways we desire and appreciate, life can demand that we change in ways that seem difficult or even impossible. We hope to experience excitement, confidence, clarity and good fortune, but are met with disappointment, pain, confusion, and loss. Our ways of coping, while effective at times, can become insufficient at other times. We handle distressing beliefs and burdens by turning to internet surfing, food, alcohol and drug use, porn and other pleasurable yet distracting activities that keep unwanted feelings at bay.

You deserve to be happy...and you don't need to struggle alone. Stress, worry, sadness, restlessness, frustration, anger, loss, or loneliness can all feel overwhelming at times...but care, connection, treatment, healing, and empowerment are all within reach. Within psychotherapy... insight, understanding, self-awareness, tools for coping, better functioning, and new ways of relating or behaving are all part of the process of change that you may be hoping for. Whether it be unresolved issues from the past or present circumstances and challenges, a safe, respectful, accepting, patient, and encouraging therapeutic space can be surprisingly rewarding, and make more of a difference than expected.

Loss of loved ones, separation, divorce, and aging are among life's changes that leave us feeling vulnerable and scared.
If you feel lost, stuck, or like your world is crumbling around you, you are not alone. Most people experience this when facing significant life changes. An aching feeling and a deep sadness accompany lost hopes and dreams. Times like this call into question, "Who am I?" Your identity feels like it has been swallowed up by the days and years spent tending to life's demands. This makes trying to figure out your next steps both overwhelming and terrifying. You want to feel on solid ground again and for your life to have purpose, meaning, and genuine connections to others.

We live in a traumatized world with many factors impacting our mental health and well-being negatively. Everything from war, conflicts, racial violence, displacement, loss, grief, family and relationship issues, life transitions, all test our strength and ability to cope with the demands of everyday life. We all need support, human connection, kindness and compassion to get through these difficult times. It can be difficult to reach out for help and embark on an unknown path to a healing journey. It takes courage and commitment to engage in therapy but it can also be extremely rewarding when you get the appropriate support.

I help with grief, loss and decision-making due to infertility.
I apply directive therapeutic strategies to help my clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals. I primarily assist individuals and couples struggling with pregnancy loss and infertility. I also help members of the LGBTQ community build families using Assisted Reproductive Technologies. Another segment of my client base are individuals seeking help for anxiety, depression and/or low-self-esteem. In addition, I use my background in fitness and wellness to guide my clients looking to lose weight or improve their overall health.

I am a community psycho-spiritual therapist, grounded in my work in spiritual care and supported by the evidence-based modalities of DBT, CBT, narrative therapy, somatic therapy and EFT. I also am focused on politicizing therapy through the teachings of mad studies, addressing the social location of clients and how they are impacted by the loss of power in their lives that contributes to grief and anxiety. I bring in the wholeness of the human being through a holistic, decolonial, trauma-informed, anti-capitalist and client-centred approach.

I offer individual, couples, and sex therapy to help clients work through relationship and intimacy issues, complex trauma, complicated family dynamics, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and self-esteem.
It takes a lot of courage to face parts of ourselves that have felt confused, inadequate, ashamed, or alone. As a holistic and relational therapist, my passion lies in supporting individuals and couples to safely delve deeper into themselves by becoming curious about the past experiences, traumas, and relationships that may have brought them here. Together, we will foster an environment where compassion and vulnerability flourish, allowing you to safely lower your walls and embrace your authentic self and strengths with renewed clarity, connection, and hope while embarking on a path forward toward healing.
