Pls use EMAIL link for initial consultation. Life can feel hard some times and reaching out for support is an act of self compassion. Welcome. You deserve to thrive. Working with a client's interests/comfort I interweave neurobiology, body based (somatic) interventions and expressive arts therapy, as well as ‘talk therapy’. I use a resilience and trauma informed lens. No creative/ artistic experience necessary, only curiosity. I have life and clinical experience with ADHD and learning differences, . I work with people in life transitions and times of change, including parenting, career, health/illness, separation & grief.

Warm greetings. Are you a sensitive person and / or do you appreciate working with a compassionate and caring counsellor who can be attuned to your experience, giving you a feeling of being seen and heard, appreciated and supported in your journey? I work with people who due to their family upbringing or culture experience some disconnection from themselves. They either find it hard to know what they truly want, experience self-doubt, perfectionism, overthink, ignore or push past their limits, people please, feel anxiety or burnout. Often they want more fulfillment in the area of relationships, career, health or life direction.

Although pain is an inevitable part of the human experience, you don't have to go through this alone. In our sacred space, I will walk alongside you as a secure anchor in your life mirroring that of trust, safety, and a non-judgemental atmosphere.

Every single person will need compassionate support, personalized guidance and wisdom, at some point in their lives. If you have a history of trauma, a painful childhood, or have suffered from anxiety/depression for a long time, then this is even more true of you. Emotions and thoughts can be confusing and even hurtful to yourself and others. Some mental states are so complex, that seem to be layer upon layer of suffering. Life can be a rollercoaster and healthy stable relationships appear to be too much work! Imagine not to be defined by your history or struggles. Imagine being able to tap into joy and inner strength at any time!

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, resilient individuals who have learned to stay strong for others, often at the expense of their own well-being. You may feel stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, caught in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, self-criticism or perfectionism. Whether navigating anxiety, trauma, or challenging relationship patterns, therapy offers a space to feel seen, heard, and reconnect with your authentic self. I work with youth, young adults, and adults to rediscover ease and agency amid anxiety, trauma, depression, stress, attachment concerns, family conflict, and life transitions.

We all have our own, beautiful, way of being in the world. At times, our authenticity recedes into the background. My goal is to join you in the depth of your sensation, and be with you in the difficulty and joy of how you experience the world. Together, we can explore the truth of what it means to be you. We can stay with what is owned, pushed aside, shamed and beloved, and how that informs the ways we engage with ourselves, and the world around us. I work from a Gestalt perspective, which notices our patterns, how we trip, and how we support ourselves in life, while being in the here and now of the current moment.

I believe wisdom and resilience already exist within you. My role is to help bring those strengths to light, bear witness to your lived experiences, and offer support and tools that help you cope more effectively. As an Asian-Canadian immigrant, I understand that conversations about mental health can sometimes feel unfamiliar, raw, or out of place. My priority is to create a space rooted in safety, autonomy, and non-judgment—where you can explore difficult emotions, deepen self-understanding, and move toward a life aligned with your values.

Suffering is part of being human. Our bodies, relationships, and life circumstances will change, sometimes in ways that feel overwhelming, isolating, and terrifying. When faced with a new diagnosis, life-limiting illness, a death, or sudden loss, we may find that behaviours that previously guided us through hard times no longer work. Therapy can offer a way to understand our inner experience and the environment we're reacting to, develop new ways of being, and find the wisest way forward. I provide a compassionate container for people to reflect and explore, feel seen and soothed, and reconnect to a sense of wholeness.

Therapy is an opportunity to find ways to live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. It can help you to overcome difficult symptoms or stresses, cope effectively with problems, or bring more positives into your life when things are going well. I will approach therapy as a balance of helping you learn to understand and accept yourself and your life situations, and supporting you in learning to change ways of thinking and behaving that are not working for you. I am also currently offering training for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Please inquire if interested.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a creative exploration that looks different for each client. Together, we will aim to understand and change the patterns that keep you stuck and frustrated, in proportion to your willingness to explore the depths of your inner world. I will meet your level of enthusiasm and dedication to your own process. I work well with clients who are curious to understand the ways that their early life and ancestral lineage continue to impact their ways of being and relating in the present.

Two things can be true at the same time. We are literally born to share and express. We smile, laugh, cheer, blush, cry, dance, and most of all we talk (a lot). Through these remarkable acts, we transform our “invisible” thoughts and feelings into something tangible, that can be observed, experienced, and (hopefully) understood. And yet, we don’t share everything. Babies do. The rest of us know there are potential costs to sharing. To avoid potential judgment, shame, guilt, or social exclusion, we all learn to hide, avoid, repress, or mask what lies inside. Thus, we all face the dilemma of what to share, how, and with whom.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
