We take a humanistic, client-centred approach to healing.
Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage, so we appreciate you being here.  Life can be very difficult and suffering is a part of our human experience, but you don't have to go through it alone. We are neuro-biologically designed for connection. We need it to survive. Our intention as therapists at Seasons is to provide you with a safe space, grounded in acceptance, compassion, and connection, to share your story. Together we will travel through it with curiosity and non-judgement to find the awareness that you need to build a better relationship with yourself. We are trauma-informed and respectful of your uniqueness.

I offer services to teens, adults, and couples seeking support for anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, depression, relational challenges, questions around identity and sexuality, and more. I practice from a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, which means our sessions are centered around you. I offer an informal style to therapy because lets be real, formal can be intimidating. Together we will create an environment where you feel comfort in having those uncomfortable conversations. Our sessions will offer you a space to tell your story and for it to be heard.

We often encounter many challenges that cause feelings of worry, hopelessness, and burnout, making it feel impossible to keep up with daily life. Anxiety and uncertainty become a norm, causing us to feel overwhelmed and often alone. We begin to push our needs aside, failing to make time for ourselves and disconnecting from those we love. We wonder what it would feel like if things were different. What if things were better? I believe you have the power to create this change and work towards a better life.

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
