This can be triggered when you struggle with issues of; general fears, personal relationships, divorce, career, health, grief, parenting, school, family, unresolved trauma, self-esteem, sexual orientation, substance abuse or any other difficult life situation.
I help you cope with anxiety and depression. I do this in stages. The first stage is to offer tools to regulate your emotions before they become unmanageable and lead to panic attacks or isolation. In the second stage I help you discover things about yourself that you are not fully aware of. With this self discovery, you will understand WHY you do what you do in life, HOW you became the person that you are today and HOW to transform certain aspects of yourself that no longer serve you to become the amazing person you were born to be.

As we work through our emotional pain and ruminating thoughts, I understand how it can feel incredibly isolating and overwhelming, especially if we become disconnected from ourselves in the process. I believe that people often turn to therapy feeling “stuck,” and while it may feel as though our lives have hit a pause button, the world around us continues to move forward. Whether you are seeking to improve emotional regulation, strengthen interpersonal relationships, navigate unexpected life transitions, or if you simply find yourself without a clear understanding of the underlying issue, my goal is to create a comforting experience.

I always approach my clients in with an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, harm reduction framework. What does that mean? It means that I will always ask "what happened to you?" instead of asking "what's wrong with you?". It also means that I will always respect you as the expert in your own life. Finally, it means that I believe that everyone does their very best to survive and thrive each day–even on the days that we can't see any hope. I am here to be with you, even through the darkest of days, and help you find inspiration and hope within yourself.

“What will they think, what will they say?" Reading that may have given you an instant reaction. If you had immigrant parents/caregivers, it most likely was an unpleasant reaction. I work with adult children of immigrants to heal cycles of pain and suffering. A difficult childhood or family experiences forced you to grow up quickly and you had to develop the roles of being strong & independent. I know the pain of holding everything in, not asking for help and minimizing your needs only to feel strong externally and struggle internally. You deserve more than surviving, heal so you can thrive!

Therapy can be a daunting prospect. Sharing your life story with a stranger in the hope of gaining perspective and solutions to life's challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, there's good news. I believe in providing a safe space for collaboration with my clients, where confidentiality is always maintained, and they feel empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals. As a biracial, bilingual (French/English) intern therapist with a background in education, I am dedicated to helping pre-teens, teens and adults work through conflict, overcome low esteem, anxiety and depression, and manage academic/personal stress.

We teach people how to treat us. If we don’t know how to love ourselves, to accept ourselves, to be compassionate with ourselves, how can we expect others to? If you struggle with issues such as people pleasing, guilt, shame, having high expectations of yourself but have low expectations of others then you have placed others’ needs over your own. If you have a hard time saying no because you worry that others will not like you or want to spend time with you, then working on boundaries assists you with experiencing clearer expectations of yourself and others. Work towards a healthier you.

I believe every individual is the expert on their own lives, and that each has innate strengths to draw upon. I have helped people grow, notice patterns, and gain insights, and thereby, to reclaim control of their lives. I appreciate that the past plays a big role in shaping who we are and how we view and manage situations, and so I respect each person’s upbringing, experiences, and differences: these make us unique! As such, I recognize no single model or intervention works for everyone – there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, I tailor sessions and interventions for you and your specific issues, experiences, and needs.

We are a diverse team of over 50 licensed and experienced therapists! We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We help individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their heads that need to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

Meeting your searching eyes, my heart feels the pain. I ask myself, what I could offer? As human, we inevitably deal with pain, loss, sadness, anger, anxiety, depression --- I might not be able to feel the deep pain you are experiencing, but I am here, ready to go through it with you and know it will be overcome. I also know when the waves of pain subside, we always find treasures left behind. Life doesn’t mean to survive, but to thrive. Challenges help us to expand our heart, our view, our belief in ourselves, and make us grow. It is often not easy. But you are here, ready to meet it courageously, aren't you?

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.
What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.
When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.
How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
