Seeking support is courageous and a strength to be cultivated. Throughout life we encounter hardships, losses, and transitions, often uncovering emotions and experiences that are difficult to sit with. Despite obstacles there is an inherent human capacity for learning and growth, and in therapy we explore how to tap into these inner resources and break free of patterns that no longer serve you. Through introspection, curiosity, embodiment, and authenticity, I believe you can come into better relationship with yourself and others.

You want to feel confident and in control of who you are, but deep down you are struggling with the pressure to have it all together. You never feel good enough. You're tired and frustrated, you overthink and constantly second-guess yourself. It might be hard to remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You're ready to feel safe and connected in your relationships. You're ready to feel fulfilled in your work, creativity, and passions. Most of all, you're ready to love yourself fully and experience hope.

*** I am NOT taking new clients at this time*** I am an advance-trained clinical hypnotherapist and LCMHC. I have personally experienced the healing and growth that comes from using clinical hypnotherapy within a supportive therapeutic milieu. I find the accelerated, effective results from clinical hypnosis very impressive and enjoy helping others heal and actualize change with this powerful technique. I approach counseling from a client-centered perspective, meet people where they are at, and help them get to where they want to be without judgement or pressure.

Life can often feel difficult, confusing or overwhelming. Seeking help and finding the right counseling relationship can be challenging as well. My goal is to help you connect to your own inner guidance system. As an existentialist and a feminist counselor, it is my belief that people need to find a sense of purpose and meaning within themselves because the world outside doesn't always make sense. The stories we have told ourselves or been told about ourselves can have a significant impact on how we feel. The result can be depression, anxiety, anger, hopelessness, or confusion.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the basis of long-lasting change. As a clinician, I strive to offer a safe space where no problem feels too big or small and all feel welcome. I am passionate about working with clients using a strengths-based lens to find the root causes of undesired thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while encouraging healing through empathy and compassionate support. I practice through an emotion-focused, mindfulness, and feminist lens, although I incorporate eclectic modalities to best suit my client’s needs.

We are co-creators, lead by you, the expert in your healing and challenges. In a non pathologizing relationship that is rooted in trust, empathy, and curiosity, we can sit with difficult feelings, symptoms and experiences. Together we cultivate self-understanding and acceptance as they are the sources of empowerment and authenticity. In order to heal, we must sift through painful experiences, narratives, and feelings. Therapy is difficult and rewarding work that requires bravery, authenticity, and self-forgiveness. Acknowledging our growth edges while also releasing burdens that are no longer serving us.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
