My ideal client is one who is going through a challenge in life that is causing them to feel stuck or regress in everyday functioning. Their needs are to find stability in their life again, either by adapting/rediscovering the ways they were able to continue progressing in their life in the first place, or by the discovery of new techniques and practices to help fuel this change. The goal always is to leave a lasting impression in the client's life, which helps bring long-term stability.

As a first-generation immigrant Muslim woman, I am grateful to offer representation to those who are seeking to improve their mental health. I was raised as the eldest daughter in an immigrant family dynamic and have an extensive understanding of these family systems and how they affect individuals of different birth orders. I have worked with clients of a variety of age ranges, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds and pride myself on multicultural awareness and consideration. I hope to help you make steps towards your ideal self by assisting you in building a functional toolbox with tools you can reach for along the way.

As a therapist, my goal is to work with clients to develop goals and objectives which will help them to achieve the stability through warm, accepting, non-judgmental, goal oriented therapeutic sessions. The methods used are very eclectic and inclusive considering the client’s comfort and orientation. Methods incorporated (but not limited to) are, CBT, DBT, behavioral therapy, family therapy, solution-based brief therapy, multimodal therapy, relationship counseling.

I view counseling as a collaboration between the therapist and the client(s) where we work together on understanding and resolving issues that are important to you. My job is to guide you in addressing your concerns and working towards achieving goals set during the therapy sessions. Empowering you to live a more satisfying and meaningful life by helping you resolve your personal conflicts and increase communication necessary for healthy relationships is part of this process. I provide a warm and supportive environment where clients feel safe to share, discuss, explore, and work through their problems in a positive manner.

Fatima Ali is a bilingual (English, Urdu) Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) with more than 2 years of experience. She also has experience working with clients dealing with a variety of struggles like depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma, grief, and loss. Fatima works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has also worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse locally and internationally (Pakistan). Fatima graduated from Marymount University with a Master's degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling.

As an Asian immigrant therapist, I speak English, Nepali, Newari, Hindi, and Urdu, I understand how overwhelming it is to feel anxiety, depression, or grief especially when you are navigating adjustment issues or facing relationship struggles. If you just need someone to listen to you without any judgment, understand our culture or your children are having a hard time settling into a school, a new city, or a country, I can provide a supportive space for you and to them. Despite our life journeys, therapy offers a safe place to process emotions and find strength in our unique perspectives.

It can be scary & frustrating when you don’t feel like yourself & don’t know why you feel this. You’ve tried everything to help with your mood changes, overwhelming feelings of nervousness, guilt and not feeling good enough, but nothing seems to work. It can be scary reaching out to a therapist because you want to find someone who really connects with you. I began my training in 2011 and completed it at The Menninger Clinic. I believe in creating an alliance with my clients. My warm & compassionate demeanor allows me to empathize with my clients, put them at ease & help them open up.

I believe that counseling is a dynamic and holistic process, and I strives to promote unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence, and respect in every counseling setting. I enjoy working with clients from diverse and multicultural backgrounds. I am multilingual and have a working knowledge of English, Bengali, Urdu (limited), and Hindi. I have worked in private practice since 2006, providing family/couple, individual, and group therapy services. I work with clients of diverse ethnicities, ages, and genders. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and solution-focused, family therapy-based, culturally sensitive, and client-centered. I currently have a wait-list for all others who wish to use their benefits until August 2024, I do have a network of therapists available to provide therapy online and in-person.
