Njideka Obi is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor with 7 years of experience in mental health. She has extensive experience helping clients from all walks of life, including from working in private practice and community health settings. Njideka is dedicated to helping people of all ages, including children, adolescents, teens, and adults, to overcome the challenges of life and lead healthy, functional lives. She specializes in treating various conditions like anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, anger, grief and loss, adjustment, trauma, and more.

While working as a middle school shop teacher I saw the role of the school counselor and pursued a master's in school counseling, while working on that degree I saw the opportunity of a full time mental health counselor. I stayed in grad school and earned the second masters in Professional Counseling. I continued teaching as long as a I was able to working on my hours to become a fully licensed Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. Once I realized the challenges of remaining a teacher and acquiring my hours (3000) for the full license I left teaching work in a geriatric psych hospital as a full time therapist.

Welcome! I specialize in providing a safe and confidential space where clients can process and talk about issues that they are facing. I also support first responders and veterans through their transition to civilian life, addressing issues related to PTSD, addictions, anxiety, depression, and more. My ultimate goal is to foster resilience and empower my clients to overcome obstacles to improve their overall well-being. I take pleasure in collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and professions, particularly witnessing the remarkable personal growth that therapy can facilitate.

I help children/adolescents, adults, couples and seniors. I aim to help others who suffer from anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression and other mental health issues. Helping with life transitions, stress and life decisions is also how I aim to help others to live their best possible life. My greatest strength as a counselor is my ability to listen with empathy. In working as a school counselor I have years of experience in working with not only school aged children and adolescents, but in also working with their parents and extended families. Helping people determine their next steps towards resolution is one my strongest skills.

Meltzer Counseling is located in Richardson, Texas. We offer counseling services to adults, adolescents, children, couples. Clinicians accept health insurance, some clinicians offer therapy services on a sliding scale. Additionally, we offer short-term FREE family therapy for qualifying families. All clinicians are direct and respectful and our goal is to utilize the best fit for each client's needs. I specialize in a unique form of counseling that teams individuals with horses (Equine Facilitated Counseling) as they work towards meeting their therapeutic goals. The horses and I serve individuals of all ages, but I am highly specialized in working with children and adolescents ages 6 and up.
