After completing a Master's of Psychology in Counseling from The Citadel, I received advanced training in multiple therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adult Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness-based Therapy, and Hypnosis for trauma resolution.
What is confusing can be understood. Trauma and loss can be transformed. Relationships can be healed. It's not magic; it's the science of psychology. I provide a safe place for you to explore, understand, and become your best self. Together, we will listen deeply to understand the issues that are keeping you stuck in self-defeating patterns, causing you distress, and blocking joy. When you become aligned with your authentic self, you will enjoy more ease, connection, and flow.

I use EMDR, ego state/parts work, mindfulness & somatic techniques, all of which provide a safe foundation for our magnificent brains to imagine, reprocess emotion and befriend our bodies.
My primary goal as a trauma therapist is to hold space for you to heal, grieve and grow at your own pace. I prioritize fostering a refuge of emotional safety, both in the therapy room and virtually, where you can get to know, understand and appreciate the younger parts of yourself that have helped you survive up to this very moment. My hope is to guide you in clearing out the pain of past experiences in order to make room for joy, love and self-acceptance. My approach to therapy is inclusive, intersectional and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

I provide trauma processing through Art Therapy & EMDR.
Sometimes, distressing thoughts, memories, and moods can leave us feeling misunderstood and trapped in repetitive cycles. Each day might feel like a continuation of the last, with no end in sight. When words fall short and traditional talk therapy feels insufficient, art can bridge that gap and help express what seems inexpressible. If you’ve experienced abuse, violence, or trauma and are seeking a path to healing, you are not alone. There is a way forward.

Do you feel stuck? Do you feel like you know all the rules and what you are “supposed to do” but somehow can’t get where you want to go? As your therapist, my goal is to help you feel at home in your body, mind, and heart. I can help deconstruct and shift your “shoulds” into something that feels more authentic and meaningful to you. We also can dig into your past and explore how old coping mechanisms that may have helped at one time are now limiting. I am trained in a myriad of techniques—including mindfulness and EMDR—to gently guide your mind and body back to the present moment to a state of well-being and resiliency.

I recently received advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Feeling depressed and seeking help can be confusing and difficult to think about. It is even harder to set up an appointment with someone who will ask questions that could make you uncomfortable. What would it be like? If this resonates with you, please contact me so that we can get to know each other and decide how to move forward to improve your health and sense of well-being. I like to remind my clients that they are in the “driver’s seat” because they are the experts in their lives. I encourage clients to tell me if I need to do something differently in session, or if they are not getting what they need in our sessions.

Drawing from modalities like EMDR, CBT, and motivational interviewing, I guide you toward growth and healing.
Now accepting new clients: In-person in Charleston, SC, and via telehealth in South Carolina and Colorado. Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life and struggling to find balance and fulfillment? Life can be filled with joys and challenges, but at times those challenges will leave us feeling anxious, stuck, or exhausted. Daily obligations can completely overwhelm us, and eventually something has to give. During these times, it can be difficult to see the possibilities that lie ahead. Even though it may seem daunting, give yourself credit for taking the first step by looking for a therapist.

Whether you suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-worth, etc., I believe there is almost always an underlying trauma that must be fully addressed before healing can occur. These traumas can be overt, such as abuse or neglect, or more insidious, such as a disparaging comment made by a parent or a peer. These traumas, whether “Big T” or “Little t,” are the reason we have the “voice in our head”—our inner critic who tells us that we aren’t good enough, worthy enough, etc. The work I do—which is a combination of Attachment Therapy, Ego State Therapy, and EMDR Therapy, helps to transform our negative inner critic once and for all.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) therapy to address trauma and help clients replace negative core beliefs about themselves and the world around them.
As a therapist, it is my job to help you understand, discover, and define your story. Our stories create narratives and paradigms that we choose to live by as truth – but not all stories tell truth. Some stories tell lies, distorted truths, and suppress what’s true altogether. I want to untangle your story with you, help you find the truths and light pieces, and gift it back to you in a way that gives you the freedom to live your most authentic life, with vulnerability and courage. With my background in trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders and spiritual counseling, I hope to help you live your best story.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
