Many of the journeys that we take, we take alone. Are you looking for someone to join you on your journey and help navigate you through difficult times? I am here to help. By beginning your voyage of healing, you have the opportunity to create pathways in therapy that facilitate growth, change, and ways to emerge your purpose. Thank you for deciding that today is the day to begin this new chapter of your life.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with 10 years experience in walking through pain with people similar and very diverse to my own challenges. What I have discovered is that we can find that place of healing, purpose, and hope. As a therapist and follower of Jesus, I feel called to create a space that’s safe for you to express, search and sort your thoughts aloud without judgment. I work at developing a relationship with you where you feel unconditionally accepted and free to get to the hard work of healing. It’s like starting an exercise program. It gets harder before it gets better, but the results are worth it!
Evening Appointments Only - I enjoy working with individual over 18 years of age who want and are motivated to be more than they are right now and are curious in discovering who they may be in their future. After the first 3 in-person counseling sessions (post-assessment), depending on the diagnosis and treatment plan, we can discuss a possible transition to an online/video counseling format.
I am currently not accepting new patients for both in person and virtual appointments. Counseling can be intimidating. It is helpful to have someone to process daily stressors and feelings associated with those life changes we experience. I have experience working with adolescents ages 14+, young adults 18-23, and adults 24+. If you’re experiencing issues with depression, anxiety, trauma and or relationship issues, I would like to assist you in developing positive coping skills to manage these life changes.
Finding a therapist is a process unique to the individual. Feeling comfortable, respected and encouraged is essential, but it is equally as important to feel growth and gains. Whether you experience feelings of anxiety or depression, are coping with life change, or struggling with family situations, anyone can choose to live a happier, healthier life. My approach is to help individuals understand how thoughts affect their well-being and recognize their ability to manage them. I focus on education, identifying goals, providing perspective, and learning strategies that are specific to your needs and foster long lasting change.
I understand the importance of creating a welcoming, safe and non-judgmental environment for the people that I serve. I strive to ensure that any client that I work with feels heard, understood, and cared for. I believe that each of us are experts on our own lives/experiences, however, at times we feel overwhelmed and need guidance as we navigate the challenges that life throws our way. My goal is to encourage my clients to explore and deepen their understanding of the issues most affecting their lives and assist them in developing tools needed to overcome the challenges they face.
**Currently operating with a waitlist** Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people need a little bit of help to work through life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you or a loved one struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other hardships, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow. You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters, but when you do, you will feel confident that you are taking a courageous first step towards getting to a better place and being a better you.
If you would like to live a happier, healthier life and be in control of your own world, I can help. Helping others with working on solutions to their problems is my goal. The skills that I help others learn so they can live the best life possible are the very skills that are incorporated into my own life and are ones I use on a daily basis. Time spent in session is for learning. Time in between sessions is for practicing skills. We are physically located across from Oscars Restaurant in Summerville. If you would like to schedule an intake appointment, you can use our therapy portal: https://www.therapyportal.com/p/HealingRoots/
I provide contemporary counseling and therapy to diverse women and non-binary people. We aim to improve their healing and well-being for good mental health. I work with adults 18 years old and over who are dealing with anxiety, depression or trauma/stressors, and all other women-specific issues. I use an integrative approach where I include mind, body, and spirit. I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space.
Are you overwhelmed or stuck in a rut? Part of being overwhelmed or stuck in a rut is feeling a loss of control. Changing your perspective, changes your reality. Changing both, allows and affords for a shift in how you reset your focus. Finding one's focus is all about taking a keen and hard look at you! What areas do you find that you need to bring into focus, and and what areas do you feel you need to push into the background? As well, which areas do you find that you simply need to blur? These are the questions that lead you to pause, breathe, reflect, and then do the work necessary to take better care of your well-being.
***Offering evening and weekend appointments*** Sometimes life is hard and we need a little assistance. I believe strength is within us, and I also believe that sometimes we need a little help finding it. I am here to support you along the journey of gaining understanding into yourself, your situation and your goals. In addition to other evidence-based practices (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, MI, ACT, TF-CBT, Alternatives for Families CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy), I am trained in EMDR which is very effective in treating PTSD symptoms. I am also Gottman trained in couple's therapy.
When you face challenges in your life, it's helpful to have support along the way. As a therapist, I am dedicated to helping you navigate your journey. Are you Feeling Stuck? Are you trying to Make Since of your Past and or Current Circumstances? If you answered yes to any of these questions, taking the first steps can be the start of a new journey towards happiness. You do not have to face challenges alone. I want to help you find strength in your vulnerability, fostering courage to lean into and weather through your circumstances. I hope you reach out to schedule today.
Accepting New Clients-The challenges one is faced with in life or while living can be frightening, overpowering, and at times overwhelming. I believe in the power of transformation for anyone searching for healing and change through counseling. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches based on the needs of each client. I also collaborate with clients to develop therapeutic goals that will meet their needs and adjustments in their life.
I know that we have to make lemonade out of a few lemons tossed our way to live and enjoy life. This is why I enjoy offering affordable therapeutic services to help individuals confront and change how they respond to challenging life experiences and discomforting emotions. If you find yourself having difficulties with traumatic experiences, stress, depression, feeling easily triggered, bouts of anger, avoidance, and/or withdrawal, then let’s talk. Please, give me an opportunity to support and encourage you to live an abundant life.
**NOW ACCEPTING ON-LINE CLIENTS** Life can sometimes be emotionally painful, with unresolved "baggage" interrupting your life at the most inopportune times. Even still, the idea of counseling or therapy can seem stigmatizing and confusing. You might even feel like you "should" be able to handle it without professional help. Whether it's anxiety, distress, trauma, or feeling down, we will work together!
If I’m being honest, people come here to peek around and decide if you want to take the next steps to having a consultation. For the most part friends and family tell you “ just be strong-fight through it”- and you’re not use to talking about the things that bother you because you’ve spent so many years trying to avoid that fact that they even exist. But avoidance gets exhausting and doesn’t help you feel less overwhelmed or full.
Stuck in the same daily routine of feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt-out? Exhausted from racing thoughts and all-consuming anxiety? You are in the right place. My goal as your counselor is to help you figure out where your life can be improved, identify what changes you’re willing and ready to make, and provide guidance and support during that process. I believe that my clients are at the wheel and I am providing the navigation.
