I have been in the helping business for the last 25 years. My vast experiences in life have given me insights that enable me to help clients who suffer from relationship issues within their marriage, their families, their social environment and within their work place. Hello, I am Jim Bennett ,Counselor. I have compassionately worked with families, couples, individuals, teens and groups for over 29 years. I have worked with these clients in a private practice setting and in an addictions treatment center setting. I have accomplished Masters Degrees in both Counseling and Clinical Psychology. I studied both disciplines to equip myself for assessment as well as treatment . I became a counselor to help teens navigate their way into adulthood. I quickly found that the family is where it all starts. Therefore, I focused on family/marriage counseling. From there I branched into addiction counseling.

I am a client-centered therapist who likes to work collaboratively with each person. I see it as a privilege to be allowed to help you, and I treat each client with dignity and respect. I work with most issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, ADHD, parenting, and adolescent problems. I have worked with almost everything and have a lot of experience working with most things. I provide compassionate psychological services to adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, and relationships. Sometimes life is really hard and we get stuck in the way we think, feel, and act; or we struggle to cope with what life has thrown at us. My approach is to help you feel heard and partner with you to develop new ways to see yourself and the world. Together we work to understand you and your life, and then identify ways to help you become a happier and healthier you. If you don’t quite understand what is going wrong, I utilize psychological testing to help you figure it out.

The therapeutic process can be painful and difficult but effective and healing the same time. Together, we will work on your traumatic experiences and help you find answers within yourself to bring you closer to a happy and healthy life. I have received a BA in psychology and MS in clinical mental health counseling from Keiser University. Also, I have been trained in EMDR therapy which targets different traumatic experiences. I pay a lot of attention to childhood as relationships with parents or caregivers affect us later in life and impact our ability to regulate our emotions and function in general.
