"In order to achieve the soul-searching that we desire and legitimately need, it is important to find a quiet place to be alone. Only in that silence and solitude are we able to remember that we already know the things that will bring us lasting happiness" My approach centers on helping my clients gain insight into unwanted thoughts and behaviors utilizing a collaborative approach. My goal is to create a peaceful and safe place for my clients to explore past and present stressors that contribute to difficulty in their emotional and behavioral functioning.

Hello! I want to begin by acknowledging that no one visits these pages without a reason. Though our existing relationships can include periods of enjoyment and peace, we can also find ourselves in situations and seasons that may appear to be hopeless with no obvious way forward. But hope exists. Licensed in MD. and SC, I'm eager to help you and your loved one to see that and experience it. Through building a strong therapeutic relationship with you as a couple, I'll help you to become friends again and to find greater understanding as you create the best relationship possible here on earth. We can do it together.

I believe there is strength to be found in our weaknesses, love to be found through our pain, and light to be found after our darkest days. When it becomes more painful to stay in our past, than it is scary to step out of it, is when the journey begins. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker and my priority is helping individuals and couples clarify their values and goals in a safe environment. My mission is to assist you in finding the inspiration to overcome, survive and thrive.

The therapeutic process can be painful and difficult but effective and healing the same time. Together, we will work on your traumatic experiences and help you find answers within yourself to bring you closer to a happy and healthy life. I have received a BA in psychology and MS in clinical mental health counseling from Keiser University. Also, I have been trained in EMDR therapy which targets different traumatic experiences. I pay a lot of attention to childhood as relationships with parents or caregivers affect us later in life and impact our ability to regulate our emotions and function in general.

I am a client-centered therapist who likes to work collaboratively with each person. I see it as a privilege to be allowed to help you, and I treat each client with dignity and respect. I work with most issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, ADHD, parenting, and adolescent problems. I have worked with almost everything and have a lot of experience working with most things. I enjoy "thinking outside of the box" and design a treatment for each specific case instead of taking a "cookie cutter" approach. I may be called or texted at 843-902-4773. I can also be emailed at hmb627@aol.com.

Here are some common reasons people contact me Angry Kids: Maybe they are not acting like they should. They may be angry, frustrated, don’t follow your rules, or have other behavioral or emotional issues. Also, kids process death, family break-up, or even new people joining the family differently. They may get quiet or angry. Frustrated Parents: I am trained in positive parenting to help parents by looking at what they are doing that works and what is not working. I then teach new skills and check in as to how it is going. Distant Couples: I work to restore the relationship from where it has been towards positive future direction.

Hey there! I'm glad you're here- seeking help for yourself! Facing emotions and harsh realities can be incredibly difficult to navigate alone. It can also be incredibly hard to find the strength and will to seek help. On top of that, finding the right therapist for YOU, can be quite tricky. You have to truly trust and connect with the person you are going to allow yourself to be vulnerable to, in order to effectively grow and heal. Right now, I'm a stranger to you, and that's probably scary! If you remember nothing else from this lengthy profile, please remember that all therapists are just humans, too. No better or worse.

Feeling "stuck" and frustrated because of a traumatic life experience or chronic stress? Do you have chronic or irrational fear or phobias? I provide professional trauma resolution utilizing cutting edge models of therapy. I help people regain their ability to regulate and normalize the oftentimes devastating feelings and sensations that can overwhelm your life following trauma. These methods are different than traditional "talk therapy" in that the body and it's multitude of symptoms are addressed directly. Through gentle and safe experiential and somatic connection, the body can learn to complete and move the "stuck" energy out for good!

It can be a difficult step to start therapy as it often comes at a time when you are not feeling supported or confident. The path toward relieving your struggles and meeting your goals may be unclear. I have met many clients that often start unsure of what the first move needs to be or have had unsatisfactory growth in therapy previously. For over 20 years I have worked with clients to build a set of tools that they can use to resolve today’s issues as well as to maintain a lifestyle of good mental health. I am interactive, strength-based and ready to discuss with you if I am a “good fit” for your needs.

How can I find a therapist in Horry County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
