If you feel like you are expected to “do it all” and carry more responsibilities than others in your life, and feel like you need a break, I may be able to help. Some people find that their personal relationships, either with friends, family, or co-workers, seem shallow, one-dimensional, or unequal. If you would like to improve your relationship with yourself and others, this may be something we can work on together. People may find themselves noticing that they keep engaging in relationships that wound them and wonder “is there something wrong with me?” We can answer that question together.

I specialize in eating disorders, life stage transitions, anxiety, perfectionism, career transitions, and relationship issues. Since I am licensed in TX and CA and provide virtual sessions I can see clients living in either state or those spending time in both. I have been licensed and in practice for over 23 years. I offer a safe, professional, non-judgmental environment and believe effective therapy is a collaborative effort by both the therapist and client. Whether it's short term therapy for adjustment or life stage issues, or longer term therapy for more persistent or complex issues, counseling can have a positive impact.

Do you feel like you swing between constant worry and overthinking to periods of extreme exhaustion, numbness, and shutdown? For many of us, this state of constant survival has become part of our daily lives. For valid reasons, we can become masters at under or over-responding to our body’s distress signals. If you are reading this, you are already becoming aware this is an unsustainable relationship. You know on a deeper level it is time to make changes that lead to a life beyond survival. I help individuals understand the connection between their bodies, emotions, beliefs and how each influence overall wellbeing.

We each carry within us our unique wisdom, strength and resiliency that, with the right support, can become to the keys to our personal healing. Yet we all go through periods where life circumstances- traumas, life transitions, or relationship difficulties- overwhelm our ability to make sense of our experiences. Perhaps your reactions don't make rational sense to you or your loved ones. Maybe old coping strategies no longer cut it anymore. It can be confusing, terrifying and lonely to not be able to make sense of the storm happening inside of us. It can also be a turning point, a moment to expand into a deeper version of ourselves.

Sometimes life is hard. It gets tough for all of us. In my opinion, knowing when to reach out for support is a sign of great strength and hope. Let's figure it out together.

My goal with all clients is to ensure that they feel heard and understood. Venturing into a world of reflection and growth can be challenging, but it does not have to be done alone. My goal as your therapist is to help you get closer to the feeling of comfort throughout our visits, and even better afterwards. Many of us seek empowerment, validation, and reassurance- I aim to provide that, and more, in a space that feels safe, and one in which you can overcome any hurdles you may be facing.

Aberrations in the human condition can be very complex with roots that extend throughout the bio-psycho-social context. It often takes more than one treatment modality. I approach each client with an open mind to discover what will work in each client as I see them. Each client is given resources for self-discovery, self-healing, and self-empowerment.

I work with people experiencing depression, grief, relationship dissatisfaction, addiction, anxiety and trauma.
Are you feeling lost or alone? Perhaps you have tried to use food, sex, drugs to fill up something empty inside and found relief fleeting. But now you are ready to look inside, to do some deeper work. How brave you are and how scary this is, and that's where I can help. We will create a safe, judgement free space to explore and make sense of your experiences, feelings, relationships and behaviors. Together, we will make a path into the sacred place of healing.

Depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship concerns are the areas in which I specialize.
Practicing for over twenty years, I have seen that real, substantial change is possible, that life can become enjoyable again. People change by understanding first what is causing their current difficulties and then within a collaborative, insight oriented and warm relationship that I can provide, work to alter those difficulties. Whether this is the first time seeking help or returning to work on other concerns, my approach is to meet you where you are and with your specific needs.

I am trained and certified as a counselor, coach and educator and have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families on issues of substance use disorder, compulsive sexual behaviors, relationship issues and wellness.
My passion for over 30 years has been to help people explore, identify and deal with problematic or out of control behaviors and the effects in their lives and in the lives of loved ones. I have always believed that these excessive behaviors have served as one way for people to regulate their moods, their neurochemistry, and to cope with anxiety and fears. In other words, to change the way they feel. I enjoy helping people learn to manage stress and anxiety in new ways. I also love helping people improve their relationship with themselves and others and to develop a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.

Individuals, couples, and families who come to my office are generally in some sort of pain or discomfort, moving back and forth between what is happening in their lives and what they want from life. Our conversations help shed light on why this is happening and what we can do to help you feel better. Although I use a variety of psychotherapeutic methods in my practice, the foundation of my work is in the relationship we create, the trust we establish, and the compassion we share. I welcome you to my practice.

Do you feel like you are at at crossroads or in a life transition? Perhaps you are feeling at your wit's end and suspect a change needs to happen and are not sure where to begin - or if you even want to. Life transitions can take many forms. Some examples include: changing careers, feeling you're in a quarter-life or mid-life crisis, moving, the loss of a close loved one, and the shift of a troubled relationship dynamic (with yourself, family, finances, your body, etc). The individuals I see are often high performers struggling with chronic stress and anxiety, a sneaky, loud inner critic, and a history that includes some trauma.

and scary! I offer a free 30-minute consultation to all potential clients so we can make sure this is the right relationship for the work you want to do.
It is my honor and privilege to accompany clients on their inward journey toward growth, healing, and self-compassion. I firmly believe in the fundamental connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Neglecting any aspect of our holistic self means overlooking the abundant wisdom within each of us. We will delve into the intricate interplay between thoughts and emotions throughout our time together, drawing from mindfulness-based techniques, somatic experiencing, Person-Centered therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems principles.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
