Immediate openings! Are you trying to find a therapist who understands? When dealing with shame, anxiety, trauma, or simply existing as a person, navigating the world can feel complicated. Mental health issues are frustrating and can sometimes feel insurmountable. The feelings of having a good life — feelings of satisfaction, confidence, and fulfillment — are hard to find. The therapeutic relationship is arguably one of the most important factors that determine success in therapy. For that reason, I strive to create a space where there is mutual respect, trust, and authenticity.

Accepting New Clients. Different seasons of life can open doors to various experiences that we may find challenging, intimidating, painful, or unfulfilling. Past methods of coping with daily stressors, or our way of simply being in the world may no longer feel authentic or true to who we are. I work with clients to explore and identify patterns of thinking and behaviors that are unhelpful; confront discrepancies and limitations that prevent forward movement; enhance self-love and acceptance; and ultimately empower clients to create a life that is more meaningful, intentional, and fulfilling.

I've realized people like to share their entire life story with someone who will leave them alone most of the time. In my opinion, therapy is the easiest relationship to develop, maintain, and come back to over and over again. A good therapist will help you recognize and appreciate this motto.

Now Accepting New Clients. You feel trapped. Stuck in a seemingly endless loop of unwanted thoughts, fears, or painful memories. You feel like the only way to get relief is to avoid what hurts or do something…anything to quiet the thoughts. Your symptoms have made your life smaller and smaller until you don't even recognize who you are or who you were meant to be. You only see your symptoms. Perfectionism, OCD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and/or trauma make you feel like you are on an island alone. Let me help you to stand up to your fears, confront your shame or guilt, and reclaim your life. You can overcome.

Reality Therapy

Is reality therapy evidence-based?

Reality therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapies. However, some research does indicate that reality therapy might be helpful for people with addiction, and may be effective in treating social anxiety in young people.

How long does reality therapy last?

Reality therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Reality therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of reality therapy long after treatment has ended.

Does reality therapy work?

Reality therapy can help a person manage concerns such as eating disorders, addiction, substance use, anxiety, phobias, and relationship difficulties. This type of therapy encourages a person to be accountable for their behaviors. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure. Reality therapy can be useful in one-on-one therapy or in group sessions. This method may be used with children, families, and adults.

What are the limitations of reality therapy?

This therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the therapist focuses on choices made by the individual in the present day. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over others. This format may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every client.
