Hi there I am Lu Ann and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been so for 12 years in private practice. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing many different types of mental issues, such as, anxiety, depression, career issues, divorce trauma just to name a few. I use Family Systems Theory, Person-Centered and CBT theoretical approaches but others can be incorporated as needed. Christian based counseling is also offered if requested.

I have 31 years of experience providing counseling. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, stressing that what we think determines what we feel and what we do. For many reasons, people learn unrealistic or destructive thoughts that cause them problems in their lives. Therapy works towards more realistic thinking, and avoiding old and destructive thinking. As I like to say, therapy is a conversation with a destination, and realistic thinking is that destination.

I've worked with children and adults having a hard time living authentically or finding joy, questioning their identity, living with overwhelming guilt or shame, unable to find "forgiveness", battling assorted addictions, not performing their sport at expected level, other people's judgment weighing them down, can't concentrate on work or class, lacking motivation, grieving a loss of someone or something, Covid fatigue, chronic illness, heavy secrets, winter blues, frustrating political atmosphere... These are just some examples of what people battled who have found freedom in talk therapy/counseling with me.

I specialize in helping clients with a multitude of issues including anxiety, depression, marital issues, grief, loss, sexual issues, and trauma.
