Accepting new clients. I work with both individuals and couples. Areas of individual focus include coping with depression/anxiety, sleep issues, family or relationship struggles, addiction and recovery, life and career transitions, sexuality, mid-life issues, and emerging adults struggling with academics or early adulthood issues. In my work with couples I work on issues ranging from communication/conflict, intimacy, life transitions, rebuilding connection, family dynamics, and relational betrayals/infidelity. I draw from the Gottman’s work, Esther Perel’s work, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy among others.

People come to counseling to alleviate some suffering or to get clarity on some confusion or path choice in their lives. I work with my clients to co-invent ways for them to accomplish these and other goals they may have. If you come as a couple I will strive to help you decode the mystery of what brought the two of you together and what your spirits need now, together and individually. I specialize in Trauma & Attachment therapy. My approach utilizes trauma interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Brainspotting in combination with talk therapy and a strong relationship. Trauma can be a single event incident, childhood wounds from neglect and/or abuse, religious trauma, gender identity/LGBTQIA+ trauma and more. Those who suffer from trauma often struggle to control emotions, lack self-regulation, and face difficulties in relationships with communication and boundaries setting. I am a gender affirming therapist and strong supporter of LGBTQIA+.

I help clients who seek to increase their strengths, awareness, openness, flexibility, intelligence (IQ and EQ), resiliency, create empowering processes and solutions leading to meaningful life engagement, and improving quality of life. I have worked with all ages, backgrounds and issues, individuals, couples and families. I have found the best predictor of effective therapy is how well the client connects with the therapist. Dr. Correa’s experiences in the military have given him a unique perspective on mental health, which he uses to help clients overcome a wide range of challenges. It's tough out there, isn't it? Perhaps you're struggling with feelings of sadness, isolation, futility, and emptiness. Perhaps you find yourself worrying about the past, present, future, or who you are. You may struggle with trauma or reflexive self-criticism. Maybe you've tried therapy before, and been disappointed by formulaic notions of growth or ideal living. It's certainly easy to feel discouraged. Yet healing is still possible, and I believe that goal-directed and evidence-based therapy is an effective way of facilitating that process.

Sometimes our thoughts, our feelings, and our circumstance can be hard to put together. When we try to connect with others, or we have no one to connect with, we’re left feeling misunderstood and lost. A memory that we have a hard time letting go of, a loss of energy, seemingly with no explanation behind it. Trauma, grief, loss. These burdens can build up over time. I tend to work with a few different types of clients given my specializations. First, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression. This can be adolescents, teens, or adults, and tend to be successful at ameliorating symptoms. Second, I work with families who find themselves struggling. There are various reasons for the struggle, but that is what we unpack and figure out how to best move forward to improve the well-being of all. Lastly, I help people better manage stress, this could be anyone, as we all experience times in life when our well-being suffers as we struggle to navigate a life transition.
