Life can be really challenging sometimes. Experiences can leave a person feeling anxious, overwhelmed, discouraged, and alone. Whether you’re here for you, your teen, or your child, everyone deserves a safe space to feel heard and supported. Together, we can work toward building a more joyous and fulfilling life.

Am I the problem, or is it them? Do you often question if your relationship is right for you? You’re feeling more distant from your partner and find yourself constantly arguing with them, but it used to not be this way. Your resentment has been building over time and you’re not sure how to communicate with them in a way that makes you feel understood. You’re afraid to lose the relationship, but not sure how to move forward. Maybe they’re resistant to couple’s therapy, or you just want some space to figure out your part.

The need for help is a deep instinct that dwells in each of us. There are times in our lives when we face challenges that leave us feeling overwhelmed, trapped, frustrated, confused, depressed, or anxious. When we reach this point, it is natural to look for direction and support from the people and world around us. If you are feeling at a loss, afraid or frustrated, or if you are struggling with a difficult change in your life, psychotherapy can help move you toward a greater sense of well-being and empowerment.

Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you put your needs at the bottom of the to-do list? Do you wonder if life could be a bit easier and not so hard? Or if you could feel better? Happier? Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, family, careers, health, and their day-to-day lives. Pushing away your needs and getting stuck in old patterns and behaviors, negative beliefs, and unresolved emotions can lead to long-term issues for your mind and body. We believe it shouldn’t be so hard to live a better life.

Your decision to start the journey of healing is a tremendous act of love turned inward. In individual counseling, I provide support and encouragement as you rewrite your story and work toward creating the life you want. In the couples therapy process, partners learn to improve communication, build intimacy, and solve conflict in a respectful way. All of my sessions are trauma sensitive and will be a safe space for repair.

Your alarm goes off in the morning. It's time to get up. You reluctantly roll over and hit the snooze button. You’re exhausted. You were up all night worrying about the day ahead of you. Third night in a row. Between work, school and relationships, life feels stressful, and it’s keeping you up. You shower, get dressed, take a deep breath and head out the door. Only a few more hours until you are back home in bed, an ironic mantra you tell yourself considering you can’t sleep.

There are times when we experience a lack of emotional balance in our life, which can appear to be accompanied by stress, confusion, a sense of hopelessness or disconnection from families and friends. Challenging and sometimes scary, these moments provide a unique opportunity for self-discovery. My belief is that people have the potential to heal, reinvent themselves, and make meaningful life changes. I have learned through my own life experience how struggles can open a door into a deeper aspect of self, leading to a better understanding of what was missing.

In my experience, I believe that we are all capable of extraordinary things. I understand that seeking therapy might feel intimidating and that is why my goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and valued. I would describe my therapy style as encouraging and genuine. Therapy can be a challenging process, so I work to help my clients acknowledge and utilize their strengths and positive qualities to create changes in their lives.

I take a very eclectic approach to my practice and like to adapt to each person. Everybody is an individual, and cookie cutter approaches just don’t always fit the bill! I like to channel each person’s strengths to help guide them through troubling times. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize CBT, solution-focused, trauma informed care. Coming into therapy can be hard, and I want to make sure you are getting what you need in order to heal, process, and grow!

Do you catch yourself thinking 'I'm not good enough' or 'I'm too much for others'? Do you find yourself feeling confined by what you’re ‘supposed to’ be doing? Do you feel stuck in the status quo? My biggest delight comes in helping people answer these questions and step outside the box that life has made them to stay in. I often work with people who feel stuck in doing life in a way that works for others, but not them- finding themselves feeling anxious, stuck, lacking self confidence, trying to heal from trauma, or full of existential questions. Often people I work with identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, or an outsider.

Trauma shatters our world, and no one should deal with trauma alone. Together we can find your peace, laughter, and connection again—for you, your teen, your family. Trauma is my specialty—let's talk. In my experience, trauma can feel like someone is holding you or your teen hostage. Constant fear, flashbacks, and disconnection can be unbearable. But I know that you and your family have the strength to heal. Together, we can create a safe space to process your experience and rebuild a life filled with hope and resilience.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 77006?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
