Hello! A little about me; I live in the beautiful Finger Lakes. I have been practicing for 18 years. I graduated from University of Buffalo in 2005. I believe in continuing education to increase skills. I have worked in hospitals; both inpatient and outpatient, schools and group homes. Prior to being a therapist, I was a case manager. I am excited about focusing solely on my private practice at this time. I look forward to working with many diverse individuals. I am also licensed in New Jersey to help meet the needs of individuals living and working in both states.

I bring over twenty-five years of experience to my therapy practice, and have helped clients achieve life-changing results. I provide effective therapy services to those who have been affected by painful life experiences--large and small, recent and long ago. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, losses, or stress, we now know that painful life experiences are what underlie most symptoms that have been labeled as mental health disorders. I ask what happened to you, since our beliefs about ourselves are affected by trauma, and by the messages that significant people in our lives send us with their words and behaviors.

45 minutes a week can make a significant impact on your happiness and life satisfaction 7 days a week. How do I know? I've been there and I know it works. When you consider the potential benefit, 45 minutes seems like a small investment, right? I'm enthusiastic about helping clients discover how small changes, thoughtful processing, and an empathic non-judgmental atmosphere can make that difference for you. I offer day-time in office appointments or day-time/evening Telehealth services.

Relationships are one of the most difficult experiences we bravely engage in as humans. Misunderstandings, inflexible thinking, our own limited ability to engage as well as others limited ability, and trauma, all affect the evolving dynamics of relating to one another. Oh man, it's hard stuff. But we also want and long to be in a relationship. How do we do this simultaneously, avoid and attach? Well, it is a delicate balance and a work of art. I can help you explore the dance of relationships with your partner, family, or children.

Sometimes we can feel stress and lost with relationships, our families, and ourselves. We all need help. Someone to listen to up. You might wish you could improve your sex life in your romantic relationships, or change your family and relationships interactions. Maybe you want to live a calm and peaceful life and overcome past traumas that don't let you move on. Replaying your history over and over, wishing things were different. It might be the way you think and treat yourself that brought you here. Maybe you want to discover more about yourself and never knew how.

Life can be challenging. Surviving life’s difficult challenges is a victory, but we are often left feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed and even self-critical. I am a firm believer that we are all doing the best that we can, but as we continue to manage ongoing stressors, we sometimes get stuck. Therapy can be a space to explore those feelings and seek new ways to find balance and healing.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
