I elicit hope when the world seems hopeless. My approach is to develop a therapeutic relationship where authenticity is encouraged in a compassionate, judgement free space. Majority of the children I work with simply want to just be kids, but there is a concern or barrier that needs to be addressed or removed first. Majority of the youth I work with are trying to figure out their purpose and how to focus on the future. The families I work with want to reduce stress and be cohesive. The couples I work with want to be unified and feel like they are together in their relationship. The adults want to be happy and content.

Hello and welcome! Worry, stress, sadness, or a general sense of feeling “off” may be motivating you to explore therapy. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, or navigating a challenging chapter in life, this is an opportunity to get curious about yourself, safely process emotions, and gain clarity. Modern society tends to view mental health through a Westernized medical model, and does not always allow space for the existential/overwhelming feelings that we all encounter. My goal as a therapist is to not only provide genuine support, but to help you normalize and embrace the full spectrum of being a human.

Waitlist for new clients
We are all bright souls, but sometimes we lose our inner light along the way. We go through times in our lives where we feel unhappy, anxious or stuck. We experience a tragedy or a difficult situation that doesn't make sense to us. Or sometimes, we just want more out of life, but are not sure what that means, or how to get it. We all deserve to feel happy and fulfilled. I work with clients who know what is wrong and need guidance to improve it, as well as those who are not sure what the problem is but want to explore it and take steps to make it better. In short, I strive to help clients find their inner light again.

I believe in a client-centered approach, combining holistic and evidence based modalities tailored to each individual. Recognizing that people are equal parts nature, nurture and the surroundings in which they live is a priority of mine, as no two people endure the same sets of circumstances. Moving forward consists of recognizing where a person is at that time, as well as crafting the space to assist them on the path to where they would like to be in order to have a better quality of life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and have extensive experience working in different capacities throughout the mental health field.

Experiencing difficulty coping with a major life transition? Want help getting back to normal? Life changing events can be difficult to process emotionally. Being connected to the present moment in a relaxed body can help us better understand and appreciate our true selves. Too often we are stuck in the mistakes/misfortunes of our past or the uncertainties of our future. Change is difficult and at times uncomfortable, yet it is necessary in order to grow and thrive. Being able to be in the moment and address difficult situations as they are and without judgment is vital to making change easier to manage.

You feel like something is holding you back...whether it's at work, in your relationship, as a parent, or just in where you thought your life would be by now. For the most part your life, career, or marriage is ok;but you envision better. You want to feel the depth and intimacy you once felt with your partner and stop the ongoing arguments. You want to stop holding back at work; or feeling inadequate as a parent because you just don't know what to do next about your child's behavior. You are stressed and overwhelmed, feeling like no one truly gets it. Your relationships are well enough, but you are missing depth, connection and meaning. Perhaps you are waiting for motivation to strike you? As you wait, the days, months, and years fly by and you remain stuck, vowing that next week...month...year...or time, things will be different. Why wait? You deserve NOW. You want to thrive in your life and change the way things feel at this moment. You want to stop repeating the same patterns, arguments, and situations that keep you unhappy. Perhaps you can do it alone, but what if nothing changes? There is a better solution. Seeking outside support is a sign of strength and readiness for change

Do you feel your thoughts are constantly racing and consuming your life? Are you repeating the same negative relationship patterns? Culturally Sensitive Therapists

How does culturally sensitive therapy work?

A culturally sensitive therapist will tailor their approach to therapy based on the individual client’s background. This may include changing their style of interaction (asking open-ended questions vs. being the “expert” voice), their affect (seeming warm or “neutral”), how much personal information they disclose about themselves, and more. It’s also important for a culturally sensitive therapist to acknowledge larger societal forces that may impact their client due to the client’s background.

How effective is culturally sensitive therapy?

Some professionals have expressed concern about highlighting cultural differences in therapy, suggesting that it might promote stereotypes and harm the therapeutic bond; however, many experts agree that cultural sensitivity tends to strengthen the connection between therapist and client and help clients feel heard and understood. A culturally sensitive approach to therapy can be especially helpful for those not in the cultural majority, especially when combined with proven therapies like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

What are the limitations of a culturally sensitive approach to therapy?

While being culturally sensitive is generally a valuable skill to have, a therapist cannot treat every client from a similar background the same way. Each client is an individual with their own values, personal preferences, and life experiences that will need to be explored during therapy. In addition, it’s rare for a therapist and client to have identical backgrounds, so there may be some cross-cultural differences to navigate during therapy, but a culturally sensitive therapist can do so with empathy and respect.

Can culturally sensitive therapy be done online?

Yes, online therapy using a culturally sensitive approach can be beneficial. Therapy can sometimes be difficult to access for clients from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic standing. The array of mental health support available through the internet makes it possible for clients to find a good therapist match regardless of where they live.
