My specialties include treating addiction, depression and anxiety, recovery from trauma, and the coping skills that are needed to manage these issues. Substance abuse leading to Addiction is an unhealthy coping mechanism often related to underlying causes. I provide a safe environment where we can work on resolving the internal struggle that is holding you back. With my client-centered approach, we can work together to improve your life.

I enjoy working with individuals to enhance their feelings of self-confidence and self-empowerment to achieve their life goals. I appreciate working with couples to improve their communication with one another and help them to regain a foundation of affection and friendship. I offer family therapy to assist families in identifying their areas of conflict and family dynamics to improve their communication and cohesiveness as a family. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults to explore their life direction, increase their motivation to achieve goals, including academic goals, and to make positive decisions.

I am Bette Freedson. Besides being a licensed individual, couples and group therapist, I am also a Psychic. My specialty is in intuitive development. I can give you a one-time intuitive reading and/or teach you how to apply intuition for more effective coping. I have expertise with stress management, 12-step program, co-dependency, trauma issues, eating issues, & parenting issues. My sessions are interactive, expressive and experiential. I am also offering groups and workshops for improved coping via intuitive development. I no longer accept insurance. I do have a PayPal option.

We are a children's psychotherapy program specializing in equine facilitated psychotherapy. We believe that learning to do things differently can be hard - we might as well have fun while we are doing it! Most of our clients have tried more traditional office approaches and have found that they didn't work for them. We believe that children should be given space to play and explore. It is through these experiences that children learn about themselves and the world around them.

I have been a practicing psychotherapist in Portsmouth for 25 years, specializing in depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have also successfully helped clients struggling with trauma, OCD, anger management, prolonged grief, parenting issues, and Bi-polar Disorder. I emphasize a collaborative effort with clients and believe therapy is only successful when there is a positive relationship between the client and the clinician. I have worked with numerous clients who have needed medication at some point in their treatment. I do not rush to recommend medication, but I do work closely PCP's or psychiatrists if medication is necessary.

PRACTICE IS FULL. I practice from a primarily cognitive-behavioral approach. Treatment typically includes challenging unhelpful beliefs about yourself, others and the world. Exposure and Response Prevention is typically used as the first line of treatment for OCD, OCD related disorders and anxiety disorders. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment, Dialectical Behavioral, and Relational therapies. Any behavior is an intention to sustain the self; yet many times the preserving behavior exacerbates the distress, fear, sadness, or anger.
