I love helping my clients through a variety of clinical strategies, but mainly, I use techniques from narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for processing trauma.
I love working with people struggling with anxiety, panic, trauma, or who are pregnant/postpartum, who are wanting to figure out how to function better and feel more contentment and calm—even in today's increasingly overstimulating, complex, and inequitable world.

My hope is that we can work together, wherever you’re at in your journey, to form a narrative around your experience, explore the origins of your reactions, and work towards health in experiencing & expressing your emotions.
You might be feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, or confused. Or maybe you are struggling with knowing how you are feeling. Perhaps life is moving too fast, too slow, or its transitions are becoming overwhelming for you. Whatever you are feeling, it is likely impacting different areas of your life—work, relationships, your passions, your faith, etc.—and you are seeking some sort of help or relief.

Drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities (ACT, DBT, Psychodynamic, Narrative, and yoga and mindfulness-based), I approach therapy as a creative and collaborative process tailored to your unique needs.
When we are bogged down by stress, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or lack a sense of purpose, we disconnect from our inherent creativity. Perhaps you are navigating a tough transition, and struggle to see what you could create from it. Maybe there is a lot inside of you yearning to be expressed, but you feel stuck. I am passionate about working with artists, creatives, and/or deep feelers and thinkers dealing with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, stress, and/or overwhelm. I also love working with adults in their 20s and 30s navigating life transitions, and anyone moved to explore their creative potential.

I operate from a Narrative Therapy worldview, meaning I view you as the author of your own life.
It's both beautiful and challenging to be a person. If you're struggling with life's challenges, feeling stuck, and wanting to connect more deeply with yourself and others, I'm here to help. I work with people of all ages; I like to say that adults remind me to see children for their genius and treat them like they're people, and kids inspire me to bring playfulness and creativity into my work with adults.

I use skills such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy, and always adjust my approach for each individual based on their needs and goals.
I specialize in helping my clients see the power within themselves; you are the driver, and I am the passenger. Utilizing a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, I work with anyone ages 14 to 100 on issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance use, and many others. As an LBTQIA+ identifying clinician, I also hope to be a source of empowerment and courage for others, particularly queer youth.

I specialize in a type of therapy that believes your problem or issue is external to you as a person. It lives in the world, not in you. In my practice we put that problem out in front of us, then step back and examine it. Looking at the problem as separate from you helps you understand it better and allows you to you experience yourself in new ways. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and Narrative therapy to treat survivors of trauma, whether that is Big “T” (profound and debilitating) or Little “t” (smaller “everyday” or less pronounced events).

Every individual is on a unique path filled with twists, turns, and challenges that shape their life. Sometimes, it can be helpful to walk alongside a companion who is dedicated to working with you to achieve your goals, bring you insight, and empower you to move towards genuine fulfillment. I am passionate about honoring your story and how it shapes your thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs. Because no two individuals are the same, your therapeutic work should reflect your needs and objectives. I blend narrative therapy, Brainspotting, parts work and somatic therapy to help you meet your therapy goals.

I approach counseling through the lens of attachment, narrative, and parts work.
Our stories and life experiences play a large role in shaping who we are and why we do what we do. I count it as a privilege to journey with people into the most sacred parts of their stories. I believe that when done in a safe context with a trusted therapist beside you, psychotherapy is a practice that can lead to great transformation. With a compassionate posture, I create a safe and non judgemental space for clients to process the parts of themselves that have been impacted by trauma and harmful experiences. Our brave work is built in these safe spaces where understanding self and one’s experiences can lead to healing.

I have same-week openings for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday appointments! Therapy works best when you feel a genuine connection with your therapist. I use EMDR & Narrative therapy along with techniques from CBT & DBT to help you build off existing strengths and work through traumatic experiences. I fully believe there is room for humor in healing and work to make the process of starting therapy and addressing trauma as comfortable as possible. If you're interested in working on anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, self-esteem or related issues, I would be very happy to have a consultation call to see if we're a good fit!

How many times have you said, "After the next two weeks, life will calm down"? Did you sacrifice and hustle to build the career, the family, the relationships that you always wanted, to only create a new hurdle to jump over? "I will be happy once, I can..." Listen friend, let's be really honest about what your over achievement/ perfectionism is doing to your life. What if you could actually ENJOY the process instead of withholding your happiness? (Yes, you get to have both happiness and hustle.) Let's create more of those magic moments where time slows down and you finally feel at peace.

All of us have acquired habits of mind, body, and thought as a means of seeking safety and connection throughout times of stress, chaos, or trauma in our lives. My intention is to help you shift any unwanted habits or patterns as we mutually explore alternative ways for you to manage your mind, regulate your nervous system, and attend to your body with self-love and acceptance. Therapy isn’t about ‘fixing’ oneself; rather, it is a journey from insight to integration, a reclamation of everything you have lost along the way, a practice of gentleness, and a return to wholeness.

My desire to care for people and improve their quality of life, combined with my own healing journey, are what made me fall in love with counseling. I really believe that we are not meant to face life's challenges alone. Life can be overwhelming, leaving us feeling weary, uncertain, and stuck. But I believe that within every person is a wellspring of strength and resilience waiting to be discovered. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life, untangle the knots of trauma, anxiety, confusion, and hurt, and forge new paths toward freedom and wholeness.

Emotional pain doesn't mean something is intrinsically wrong with you. It's a signal: hey, look over here. I'd be honored to do that with you. My approach is non-pathologizing and collaborative. We may explore your history, work with your dreams, process trauma, re-imagine your story arc, or examine relational patterns as they unfold between us. As a depth therapist, I respect the power of the unconscious and aim to support your process of becoming your fullest self.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
