Traumatic experiences can change the way that we relate to ourselves as well as the rest of the world. We can be left feeling depressed, on edge, or not like ourselves. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, specializing in trauma, PTSD, and anxiety, my passion is helping those who have experienced trauma feel safe within themselves again.

People have been telling you to "talk to someone" for a while. Even if you knew who to talk to you, you don't know what to say. Everybody seems to have an opinion about you, but nobody asks what you think. That trauma you don't want to talk about keeps you up at night. You're using substances and nobody knows. The littlest things seem to set you off and you end up saying or doing things you wish later you hadn't. Being a teenager is hard. Being a parent is much harder than you thought it would be. Your relationships seem to be on the brink. You feel alone and nobody really knows you. Something's got to change. But how?

6-8 sessions may be all you need. Do you often think/say to yourself: “I should know this?” “I’ve read all the self-help books.” “I’ve done therapy in the past.” "I was doing great." “What are you going to tell me that I don’t already know?” or "I have never done this before" I get it. I work with negative, self-limiting beliefs and past traumas that may be holding you back.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward... but you know something needs to shift. Maybe anxiety shows up in your body, relationships feel strained, or old patterns keep repeating themselves. You want support that feels personal, not clinical. You want a space where you don’t have to perform, where you can slow down and feel understood. Some clients come to me as adults ready to unpack long-held patterns. Others are teens sorting through big emotions, or children needing help to process feelings through play. In every case, the need for connection and safety is the starting place.

My goal is to help clients with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. I believe that the relationship between myself as a counselor and my client is just as important as the content we discuss. It is difficult to see people struggle with issues that cause emotional turmoil; and I feel honored that I can walk with people through their healing journey. I love helping people learn skills they can use to function better and promote positive changes in their lives.

When worry and overthinking take hold, even simple decisions can feel heavier than they should. You may find yourself replaying conversations, questioning what you said, or trying to prevent every possible mistake. The constant pressure to “get it right” can make once-enjoyable parts of life feel stressful or out of reach. Many of the people I work with are navigating major transitions, rebuilding after burnout, or stepping down from higher levels of care and want support that helps them stay steady. Others are managing OCD or anxiety that has become too consuming to continue handling on their own.

Let's meet online, on Zoom.
Hi, it's Joseph. Let’s talk! We’ll work together until that unsolvable problem is history, until that overwhelming pain is bearable, until you embrace the future (instead of escaping the past). You’ve always been strong, resourceful, and intuitive. I’m just going to help clear away the junk you’re trapped beneath so you can actually feel that way: false beliefs that make life seem harder than it is; old stories about you that have nothing to do with who you are now; distractions that keep you from deciding what is most meaningful to you; power imbalances that take away good things that are rightfully yours. This stuff has to go.

I specialize in working with women/mothers/LGBTQIA, not limited to Depression, Anxiety, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, motherhood identity, parenting, relationships, sex(uality), and life changes.
I also specialize in working with teens that struggle with Depression, Anxiety, identity, suicide ideation, LGBTQIA and questioning youth.

FAQ - About Telehealth Therapy
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?
One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.
Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?
Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.
Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?
The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
